LEGO Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens Set Pricing

The last time that there was information about the LEGO Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens sets was last month when there were details of the set numbers and pricing in British Pounds. We also knew there was going to be an updated Millennium Falcon as well as a X-Wing. There is new information coming from BZPower, albeit a little late on my part, of the piece counts of the sets as well as US and Canadian dollar prices for each of these sets. I’m going to venture a guess and say the most expensive set will be the new Millennium Falcon. All the sets below will be available in September.

StarWars.com has revealed the exclusive minifigure for the DK LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded which will be the White Boba Fett, aka Proto Fett. A white version of the bounty hunter was first released in 2010 but we will now get an updated version of him. The book will be available on April 28th just in time for May the 4th but you can pre-order the book on Amazon. The LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia will include 72 more pages filled with facts and images of the minifigures that have been released since the first book. Thanks to Michael for the heads up.

LEGO Elves Official Trailer Now Online

LEGO has released the official trailer for the upcoming LEGO Elvesicon theme. It basically tells the story of the main character, Emily Jones, arriving in Elvendale and what the Elves have to do to get her home. Parts of the trailer are actually from the 22 minute webisode that was online a few weeks ago but was later taken down. I believe the episode will be online again once the sets are released. From the early looks, fans seem to be pretty open-minded about the Elves theme especially with the new colorful pieces that will be available. Will you be picking up any of the sets?

Happy Lunar/Chinese New Year 2015!

Chinese New Year Candytray

Today is Lunar New Year, aka Chinese New Year, and it begins the Year of the Sheep/Goat. Happy New Year to everyone who is celebrating the next couple of days and I wish everyone happiness and good luck. The above MOC is created by Andy Hung (Andybear) and it shows the traditional candy box that is used during this time of the year. On the lid of the box, you can see the word 福 which means fortune or good luck. You can also see some traditional gold ingots that were used in China in the past as a form of currency. I know I’ll be eating out of these boxes the next few days and enjoying all the goodies inside.

To celebrate Chinese New Year, LEGO has released a small Year of the Sheep (40148) set. Unfortunately, it is/was only available in countries in Asia. If you really want one of these sets, there are some available on eBay and BrickLink.

LEGO Super Heroes Super Jumpers – To Use or Not To Use?

In the new DC Comics Super Heroesicon and upcoming Marvel Super Heroes sets, LEGO has included a new gimmick called the Super Jumpers to encourage more play but there are some problems with it. I’ve gotten a few comments and emails from readers who want to get the word out on it since they’ve also run into this issue.

If you’re not familiar with the Super Jumpers, it’s a clear piece that you can attach your minifigures to and you push down to launch them in the air. If you covet your LEGO minifigures, I would suggest not using them. The reason is that they could potentially damage the back of the minifigures’ legs. There have been various reports on Eurobricks and Reddit, just to name a few, that this play feature has given people this problems.

The minifigures are hard to get on the jumpers and once you have them on, they have a lot of clutch power where they attach to the minifigures pretty tightly which makes it a little harder to pull off. If I was a child playing with it, I would just push the minifigure all the way down but this is what causes the damage especially with that unnecessary little ridge piece where the back of the legs meet the jumper. The plastic causes more stress than usual to the legs and it actually warps them and creates small dents on the leg holes (see below).

For the casual person who just plays with the set, it may or … Continue

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) Officially Retiring

The highly anticipated and very popular LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) will be officially retired. The project by Peter Reid encompasses the feelings of the LEGO Space theme with the design of the Exo Suit as well as the minifigures included. Unfortunately, all things must come to an end and for the Exo Suit, it will be gone on at the end of February.

You can still order the set on Amazon or Shop@Homeicon but there are very limited quantities available. You may still also find them in LEGO Stores and possibly other retailers like Target and Toy R Us but the best chance to get it is still online. We’ve done a review of the Exo Suit (21109) and you can read more on it if you like.
