No Starch Press Medieval LEGO Book Review

Medieval LEGO

The folks over at No Starch Press has sent me a couple of their upcoming books for review. One of these books is called Medieval LEGO by Greyson Beights. The book contains 132 pages and retails for $14.95.

Castles and kings, battles and treaties, famine and plague, intrigue and invasion!

Medieval LEGO takes you through real English history in the middle ages with a unique twist, with every event illustrated by a tiny little LEGO scene. With contributions by medievalists and scholars, this book brings medieval history to life in a fun, kid-friendly way.

Inside, you’ll learn about events like the Battle of Hastings, the chartering of Oxford University, and the signing of the Magna Carta. You’ll witness the infamous Black Death, and the Great Famine, and you’ll read about famous historical figures like Robin Hood, Richard the Lionheart, Geoffrey Chaucer, and William the Conqueror.

Grab your broadsword and turn the page to join the adventure.

Medieval LEGO

The first thing I noticed when I saw the book was that it reminded me of the little children’s storybooks. The small size of it immediately gave me some nostalgia of some of the same sized books when I was a kid but don’t let that fool you. Medieval LEGO is filled with a lot of historical content along with closeups of builds that give a small scene for the event.

The book is separated into three parts which encompasses several date ranges throughout the Middle Ages. Within each chapter are a number of important historical events that happened in … Continue

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Winter 2016 Rumored Set Details

Eurobricks super-sleuth CM4Sci has reported on a couple of rumored

Eurobricks super-sleuth CM4Sci has reported on a couple of rumored LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes sets for 2016. Remember last year at SDCC where LEGO released an exclusive Batman Classic TV Series Batmobile? Well it looks like we’ll be getting a Classic TV Series Batcave (76052) to go along with it next year. There’s no word on whether there will be a Batmobile included with the set or not.

CM4Sci has also given details on another set called the Gotham City Cycle Chase (76053). From the looks of it, it sounds like there will be multiple vehicles associated with this set. Stay tuned as more details of next year’s set begin to emerge for various themes.

LEGO Dimensions Midway Arcade Minifigure Revealed

Back in June, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced some new licenses coming to LEGO Dimensions including Ghostbusters and Midway Arcade. There’s now a new image of the Starter Pack (71173) which shows the full lineup of minifigures for the Level Packs, Team Packs, and Fun Packs including minifigure for the Midway Arcade Expansion Pack (71235). The image shows some sort of gamer character wearing a green shirt with a black jacket. His accessories include a soda and what looks to be a coin. Thanks to CM4Sci on Eurobricks for the heads up.

Rumored LEGO Ideas Doctor Who Set Details

Back in February, LEGO announced that Andrew Clark’s Doctor Who and Compansions project on LEGO Ideas will become an official set. There hasn’t been much or any information, for that matter, regarding the set however Hulk_Smash over on Eurobricks has changed that.

They have mentioned that the set might be based on The Time of the Doctor Christmas special episode of the series with the minifigures being Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi’s respective Doctors, Clara, two Daleks, and a Weeping Angel. The set itself will be the TARDIS interior with the exterior on the end and it can “come off and display as the TARDIS.” The release date will be December 1st and as we already seen from a Toys R Us price tag, the retail price of the set will be $59.99 unless it was marked up but I doubt it was.

Keep in mind that these are only rumors until confirmed by LEGO themselves when they officially announce it, supposedly on September 1st, but Hulk_Smash has given legit information before so the details given could be true. Thanks to Josh for the heads up.
