More LEGO Speed Champions 2015 Teaser Images

LEGO Speed Champions Ferrari

LEGO has released some more action shot images featuring the new LEGO Speed Champions theme. The sets will be available in March 2015 and will included officially licensed cars from Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren Mercedes. Although the images do reiterate that the vehicles are chock full of stickers, I feel that the are needed to bring out the full details of the Speed Champions sets. Some may elect to not apply the stickers but I think they look great with them. If you haven’t seen the official images of the sets yet, you can check them out here and the box art here.

The LEGO Movie 2 Takes Place 4 Years After First

There are some new details of The LEGO Movie 2 coming out of Empire Online today. As we know by now, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be writing the script for the movie which will be released sometime in 2018. One quote that stood out from the interview is:

Miller: “Well I don’t want to give you spoilers but we were really interested in what happens to that boy who’s in the meta story in the first movie when he’s four years older. When he’s an adolescent how does that change his point of view?

“And it’s nice to have the characters start in a different place from the first movie. Emmet, for example, was in an existential crisis of having seen another dimension and was questioning the whole point of his existence.”

What I got from that is The LEGO Movie 2 will take place four years after the first one with Finn most likely returning as a character. It’s not known at this time if Jaden Sand or Will Ferrell will be returning as Finn and “The Man Upstairs.” Also, since Finn is a little older now, will he be going into the “Dark Ages?” It’ll be interesting to see what Lord and Miller will come up with for the sequel.

Also today, Warner Bros. was released a new clip showing some of the behinds the scenes stuff that happened while creating The LEGO Movie. You can check that out below.

LEGO January 2015 Promotional Polybags Sold Out (Almost)

It hasn’t been a week yet into 2015 but there’s already bad news. Remember all those promos that LEGO was having with the LEGO Creator Flower Cart (40140), LEGO Star Wars AT-DP (30274), and the LEGO Friends Mini Golf Set (30203)? I’m sad to say that the first two has pretty much been completely sold out. You heard that right. In fact from what I heard, the AT-DP was sold out probably on the second or third day, even at my local LEGO Store. Below is what a rep from LEGO emailed to one of our readers:

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

I’m so sorry the LEGO® 30274 Star Wars AT-DP is in fact sold out completely. We received such a high amount of orders we quickly sold out of it.

There is a way you might still be able to get the promotional set though! I see based on your address you do have a local LEGO® Brand Retail store close by. I will provide the address and phone number to you so you might be able to give them a call and see if they have one in stock.

So that brings us to the question of did LEGO underestimate the amount of orders they are going to get? To take it a step further, was it a mistake of making the AT-DP available free for any LEGO Star Wars purchase? With that stipulation, any Star Wars purchase would have qualified you to get the polybag including keychains which was a … Continue

LEGO Store January 2015 Monthly Mini Build Event Alien (40126) Review

LEGO January 2015 Monthly Mini Build

Yesterday was the first LEGO Monthly Mini Build of the year and boy was it a busy one. For the new year, we get an Alien and Space Dog (40126). It’s an interesting choice of builds for January 2015 but it has a connection to next month’s build so stay tuned for that.

Not only was the January Monthly Mini Build was going on, LEGO also has something new going on with The LEGO Store Passport. We already went in-depth of what it is about and you can read more about it here.

The Alien and Space Dog polybag contains 55 pieces. There’s nothing too much to the Alien. It’s a green creature with an orange shirt and black pants. The Space Dog is also green and has a the look of a chihuahua.

The LEGO Store Passport Review

The LEGO Store Passport

I’m back from the Monthly Mini Build at the LEGO Store today and as we reported earlier today, the employees were handing out a new item today. If you didn’t have a chance to see yet, it is The LEGO Store Passport that one of our readers emailed us images of.

I’ve got one in my hands and I must say it’s a pretty neat little collectible. The cover is made of a material that mimics what you get with a real passport and if you don’t look closely, you may mistake it for the real thing. It is embossed in gold printing with the words “Passport” on top and “The LEGO Store” on the bottom. The middle is a pretty large outline of a gold 2×4 brick.

Inside are twelve pages of the Passport and the first page is the identification page. There’s a minifigure head which represents whoever the passport is for. You can probably glue a real portrait picture to give it a more authentic look if you want. There’s also space for your name, date of issue, and a signature.

The LEGO Store Passport

On the next page and also a few more in the back, there’s spaces for the Passport to be stamped with different LEGO Store locations around the world to document your travels.

The LEGO Store Passport

In the middle is a place for stamps to be applied if you have attended the Monthly Mini Model Builds this year. If you or your parents know you’ll be attending the Mini Builds, be sure to bring your LEGO … Continue
