LEGO Seasonal Christmas Reindeer (40092) Review

Although it’s only the beginning of October, it’s still not too early to talk about Christmas and the holidays. As of yesterday, the new LEGO Seasonal items are now available and these also include the buildable creatures that LEGO has been releasing throughout the year. Here we have the first of two creatures that are focused around Christmas and that is the LEGO Seasonal Christmas Reindeer (40092). It contains 139 pieces and retails for $9.99 which is a great $0.07/piece. The Reindeer is the third largest of the 2014 buildable Seasonal creatures, by piece count, behind the Halloween Bat (40090) and the Christmas Snowman (40093) which we will be review next.

Like with pretty much every other Seasonal character so far, the box has two un-numbered bags and a small instructions booklet. The build starts at the feet where the Reindeer has hinged plates to move the legs. Building continues up the body where the arms are also on hinged plates. The middle of the body has a 1×2 brick with cross hole so you can attach either of the presents to the body so give the illusion of the Reindeer holding them. After that, you build the head with it wearing a Christmas hat. The ears also have some movement in front of the antlers.

Like I mentioned before, there are two presents, one large and one small, with TECHNIC pin protruding from the backside. This allows you got attach either to the body of the Reindeer to make him hold it.

Swamp Thing and Detective Chimp Announced for LEGO Batman 3

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham - Swamp Thing

As we get closer to the release of LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, we are getting more reveals of playable characters in the game. Earlier today, Game Informer revealed that Swamp Thing as well as Detective Chimp are the latest characters to be included in the game.

Swamp Thing began with a scientist named Alec Holland who invented a Bio-Restorative Formula to solve food shortage problems. However, some thugs planted a bomb in his lab and exploded. While Alec’s body was covered in the formula, he ran into a swamp and this affected the swamp’s plant life while imbuing it with his consciousness and memories. The result is the creation of Swamp Thing.

Detective Chimp, aka Bobo T. Chimpanzee, solves crimes with its human-level intelligence. While on his trip to Florida, he went to see the Fountain of Youth and there he gained the ability to speak to every living creature. He is currently affiliated with the team of supernatural heroes called Shadowpact.

Finally, there is also now an image of DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns who was announced yesterday that he will be a playable character.

LEGO Seasonal Thanksgiving Turkey (40091) Review

It’s the beginning of October and that means that the new LEGO Seasonal items are now available including some buildable creatures that represent the holidays. The first of the final three for 2014 is the Thanksgiving Turkey (40091). This particular set contains 125 pieces and like its predecessors, it retails for $9.99.

The box contains two un-numbered bags and the instructions booklet. Like all the other creatures, the Turkey is pretty simple to build with not much difficulty. It has some basic articulation in the arms and legs as well as the mouth. The “feathers” in the back uses some 1×2 hinged plates and 2×4 angled plate to create the look of it. Finally, the Turkey also wears a pilgrim’s hat.

Overall, the LEGO Seasonal Thanksgiving Turkey (40091) continues the line of creatures that have been released so far in 2014. It is now available at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home. If you’ve been collecting these guys, I do recommend adding it to your collection. My next review for the LEGO Seasonal characters will be the Christmas Reindeer (40092) and it should be up later this week.

Stephen Amell Announced for LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham - Green Arrow

Earlier today, we reported that Arrow star Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen/Green Arrow in the popular TV series, will be at the LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham panel at New York Comic Con 2014. LEGO Batman has just announced that he will also be voicing Green Arrow in the game as well which is pretty freaking awesome!

According to our previous post, we noted that Kevin Smith will also be a playable character too in LEGO Batman 3. The game is shaping up to be one of the more anticipated games this year with all the guest appearances. Remember to pre-order LEGO Batman 3 from GameStop to get the exclusive Plastic Man minifigure.

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham NYCC 2014 Panel Details

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham - Kevin Smith

The LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Twitter page has reveal some details of the their panel at New York Comic Con 2014. Famed screenwriter, actor, and director Kevin Smith will be on hand as well as Troy Baker, TT Games developers Arthur Parsons and Stephen Sharples. Other people that will be at the panel include DC Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and a special guest appearance by Arrow star Stephen Amell.

The panel will be pretty much like at San Diego Comic Con 2014 discussing details about LEGO Batman 3, revealing more characters, demos, and also giveaways. LEGO Batman 3 will also be playable on the convention floor at the DC Entertainment booth.

From the looks of the image above, could it be that a Kevin Smith playable character could be in the game? He has been involved in writing in a couple of Batman comics such as Batman: Cacophony, the six-issue mini-series The Widening Gyre, and currently working with Ralph Garman on a Batman ’66 crossover with the Green Hornet.

LEGO Disney Princess 2015 Official Images Revealed

LEGO Disney Princess Aurora's Bedroom (41060)

It’s a another day and Just2Good is again at it with reveals for the 2015 LEGO sets and this time the LEGO Disney Princess sets get their spotlight. It looks like there are only four sets in this wave but there are some new Disney Princesses added for next year including Elsa and Anna from Frozen which I think will be a very popular set. It’s also a shame that Aladdin wasn’t included in the Jasmine’s Exotic Adventure considering that previous LEGO Disney Princess sets also had the male lead characters in it.
