LEGOLAND California Star Wars Days 2015 Participation Details

LEGOLAND California Star Wars Days 2014

Star Wars Days at LEGOLAND California is almost here and FBTB has information on how you can participate in their annual Fan Gallery in the area on top of The Model Shop. If you haven’t attended Star Wars Days before, the Fan Gallery is pretty much a collection of Star Wars themed MOCs that local builders bring to show the public. You can check out the builds from last year here.

There are some incentives this year to volunteering your time and/or bringing a MOC. For just volunteering, you can get a Star Wars Days 2015 T-shirt, free entry to the park and lunch for the day of your shift. Each shift consists of a total of four hours.

For bringing a MOC, you get free entry to the park for both days of the event as well as lunch, and “exclusive” minifigure, a discount coupon for The Big Shop (20% off of up to 5 items), and a pair of complimentary passes to the park for future use.

Also for bringing a MOC, there are also prizes for best builds in a particular category (Empire Strikes Back Vignettes, Star Wars Comic Bricks, Star Wars Cube Dudes Diorama, Evolved Starfighters, and The General Category). To read more on those prizes, head over to the FBTB link above to see what you could possibly win if you bring a MOC and it is chosen as a winner. You can also contact Ace if you have any questions.

LEGO Shop Employee Minifigure Polybag (5001622) Review

Today we have a new review for a fairly older product. Way back in September of 2013, we reported on a new LEGO Shop Employee Minifigure (5001622) polybag that was given out with Shop@Home orders around that time. Now fast forward to the present time. If you made a $75 purchase last November or December, you would’ve received a free LEGO 2015 Wall Calendar which also included coupons to redeem this year for previously exclusive minifigures. For January, you can redeem the LEGO Shop Minifigure with any purchase.

The minifigure is the same one that you see prominently displayed on LEGO Shop@Home. He wears a black long-sleeved shirt with grey stripes across the arms and waist. He also has a name badge printing as well. The legs are plain black. For the head, he has a smiling expression. The reddish brown hair is spiky and is similar to the Sleepyhead from the Series 6 Collectible Minifigures (8827). What’s different about this promotional minifigure polybag from others is that it also includes a red 2×4 brick. This brick represents the big one that you usually see standing at LEGO Brand Stores.

Overall, the LEGO Shop Employee Minifigure (5001622) is a nice promotional polybag for both when it showed up unexpectedly with orders back in 2013 as well as now with the coupon. It makes a great minifigure if you’re making a LEGO Store MOC. If you missed out on it or aren’t able to get one because you don’t have the coupon from the 2015 Wall … Continue

LEGO 2015 Polybags Available at Target Valentine’s Section

LEGO Friends Smoothie Cart (30202)

It’s almost time for Valentine’s Day (not really) but some Target stores are already setting up their Valentine’s section. A few readers have emailed me some details of the polybags that will be available during Valentine’s.

The first polybag is the LEGO Friends Smoothie Stand (30202). It has been available already at Target but they decided to put it in the section. The 37 piece polybag retails for $3.99.

The other polybag Target has available is the new LEGO City Swamp Police Helicopter (30311). It features a new vehicle in the new 2015 City Swamp subtheme. This 51 piece polybag goes for $3.49.

Thanks to Sean and Chris for emailing in the details.

LEGO Minifigure Box Set (5004076) Review

Today we are taking a look at a little interesting product that popped up online last year as a Target exclusive. This is the LEGO Minifigure Box Set (5004076) which consists of four different minifigures from different LEGO themes. This little set was part of a Target promotion where you could get it free with a purchase of $50 or you could have just purchased the set outright for $15.

The first thing we can take a look of on the LEGO Minifigures Box Set is the packaging itself. It comes in a fairly small box with clear windows to show each of the minifigures included the set. The printing of each side of the cube corresponds to what type of theme the minifigure is in as well their accessories. Speaking of accessories, they are in the middle of the box in a plastic bag. The inside packaging also has the same background image as the outer minus the banners and accessories shown on the outside box.

Green Ninja Lloyd

The first minifigure in the LEGO Minifigures Box Set (5004076) is the LEGO Ninjago Lloyd Green Ninja in his Dragon Xtreme (DX) robe. What’s interesting about this new version of Lloyd is that he became the Green Ninja after the other ninjas already had their DX robes a year before. Like with all the DX outfits, you have the Dragon printing on the front of the torso and leg. On the back of his torso, you have some more printing of the Dragon head as well … Continue

Science Adventures Achieves 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas

Shortly after we reported that GlenBricker’s The Discworld had achieved 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas, another project has hit the mark as well. This project is the Science Adventures by Alatariel. This is the follow-up to her very popular LEGO Ideas Research Institute (21110) and it only took 44 days to hit the 10k mark.

The project features three vignettes of scientists in their outdoor working environment including a geologist, a wildlife biologist, and an achaeologist. This particular build consist of 188 pieces and is very similar to Alatariel’s previous work. If this project passes the First 2015 Review Stage, it looks like we have a pretty cool theme going with the small vignette sets.

The Discworld Achieves 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas

The Discworld project by GlenBricker becomes the latest project to hit 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The project is based on the fantasy book series by Terry Pratchett. The build itself features the disc on top of four elephants which are on the back of a giant turtle named Great A’Tuin.

The project becomes the first project to reach the First 2015 Review Stage. Shortly behind it is Alatariel’s follow-up project to the Research Institute (21110), Science Adventures.

LEGO Batman Spinoff Movie About If Batman Can Be Happy

With all the LEGO 2015 set rumors we had today, let’s take a step back and look at something else, more specifically, about The LEGO Batman spinoff movie. Back in October of last year, we reported that the movie will be coming in 2017. There have been small details coming from Phil Lord and Chris Miller saying that “every era of Batman filmmaking will be acknowledged.”

MTV recently caught up with the pair again at the National Board of Review Awards and Lord teased, “No spoilers. But I will say I think the movie is really exciting because it’s about ‘Can Batman be happy?'”

Lord also added while mimicking Batman, “Wah, I’m so rich and handsome, and women like me, and I’ve got a Maclaren. Something about my parents!”

Will Arnett, who will be returning to voice the Dark Knight, stated he has seen part of the film and said, “The first bit that I’ve seen was mind-boggling.”

Can Batman ever be happy especially since Wyldstyle broke up with him to be with Emmet in The LEGO Movie? What does he have now that will bring joy to his life again?
