LEGO City 2014 Sets Details (Update)

There’s a new update on the LEGO City 2014 sets that we initially reported last week. Eurobricks users Caseyref as well as darth_tater has posted some new details on the City sets.

System Sets:

Police Motorcycle Chase (60042) – White police car, 2 bikes, 3 minifigures (2 criminals and 1 police officers)
Break-Out of the Prison Transporter (60043) – 8 stud wide prisoner van, 1 red quad bike, 3 minifigures (2 criminals and 1 police officers).
Mobile Police Unit (60044) – Police truck with trailer, 3 minifigures (2 police officers and 1 prisoner)
Police Boat Transporter (60045) – 4×4 police jeep with trailer, dinghy boat, 2 minifigures.
Break-Out of the Police Station
Bandit’s Hiding Place
Police Helicopter Chase

Great Vehicles:

Race Car (60053) – 6 stud wide Octan touring racing car with 1 minifigure and 1 silver cup.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings The Council of Elrond (79006) Review

One iconic scene in The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring takes place at the home of the Elves at Rivendell. The Council of Elrond (79006) set recreates the scene in the movie where the Council discusses what to do with the One Ring. The scene also is the origin of one of the best memes created. This set contains 243 pieces and retails for $29.99 which comes out to about $0.12/piece. The box contains two numbered bags, one instruction booklet, and one small sticker sheet.

LEGO Friends 2014 Sets Revealed

darth_tater over on Eurobricks has posted an updated list a couple of days ago on the initial wave of the 2014 LEGO Friends sets. I’m not into the Friends line that much so I’m not sure what fans are looking forward to. From some of the responses in the message board, a few are excited in seeing the news van and the penguin. LEGO City Space Shuttle (3367) Review

When I was younger, I didn’t get a chance to get the older LEGO shuttle sets such as the Space Shuttle Launch (1682) or the Shuttle Launching Crew (6346). As I got older, I was and still am fascinated with space-related things and when I came out of the “Dark Ages”, I saw the LEGO City Space Shuttle (3367) and I knew I had to get it. The set contains 231 pieces and retails for $29.99, a $0.13/piece ratio. The box has two numbered bags, one instruction booklet, one loose 6×16 black baseplate, and one sticker sheet.

Brick by Brick by David Robertson Book Review

Recently, I was sent a copy of a new LEGO book called Brick by Brick: How LEGO Rewrote the Rules of Innovation and Conquered the Global Toy Industry written by David C. Robertson with Bill Breen. Robertson was a Business Professor at the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland and was given the privilege to interview LEGO’s management team. Breen has co-authored and published many other business management books including this one. The book is published by Crown Business and has 320 pages.

Red Clay Consolidated School District LEGO Tower Fest

Last month, we reported that the Red Clay Consolidated School District in Wilmington, DE will be trying to set a Guinness World Record for the tallest LEGO tower. As of Thursday, construction has already started and the tower was at about 40 feet. The completion of the tower will be held on Monday, August 19th at 5pm during “LEGO Tower Fest” at John Dickinson High School. Tower Fest runs from 5pm to 8pm and will have many games and activities for kids and their families. Our buddies over at Your Creative Friends will be there to cover the event as well so if you’re attending, drop by and say hi.

LEGO CUUSOO Jurassic Park: Triceratops Encounter

The BrickQueen is back with another Jurassic Park project on LEGO CUUSOO. If you remember from yesterday, I did a post on her other JP project, the Jungle Explorer T-Rex Encounter which is quickly gaining supporters. Today, she has posted the Jurassic Park: Triceratops Encounter.

The set features the triceratops, a jeep, and the Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler minifigures. The triceratops in the project represents the dinosaur that got sick when it accidentally ate the poisonous West Indian Lilac berries.

The jeep is a replica of of JP 14 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. It is a gas-powered jeep that Dr. Gerry Harding uses to drive Ellie back to the visitor’s center. The jeep features a winch cable and a spare tire on a opening door and seats four minifigures.

If you like Jurassic Park, there’s no reason not to like this project as well.
