LEGO Creator Expert Palace Cinema (10232) Review

LEGO Creator Expert Palace Cinema (10232)

When the new LEGO Creator Expert Palace Cinema (10232) was announced last month, a lot of people were excited for the next modular set. It is currently available on Shop@Homeicon for VIP members and will be available next month for everyone. The cinema contains 2196 pieces and retails for $149.99. That comes out to a nice $0.07/piece. YourCreativeFriends has done an extensive review on the set and gave their opinion on how the set turned out.

LEGO Star Wars UCS Red Five X-wing Starfighter (10240) Revealed

LEGO Star Wars UCS Red Five X-wing Starfighter (10240)

At LEGO World in Copenhagen, LEGO has officially announced the next LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collectors Set, the Red Five X-wing Starfighter (10240). A few days ago, Kevin Hinkle did mention that a new exclusive set will be revealed outside the US and today, we now know what that set will be. The X-wing will contain 1558 pieces and will retail for $199.99. It will be released in May 2013. This is the second incarnation of the X-wing with the first one being released back in 2000 (7191). Like the previous model, this X-wing will also include a R2-D2 minifigure which we probably have about 3 or 4 of already.

With the release of this X-wing, I feel that the phrase “Ultimate Collectors” is diminished because in my opinion, sets shouldn’t be remakes of previous models but something new that haven’t been released before. On the other side of the coin, it’s nice for newer collectors who didn’t get a chance to get it the first time around. With that said, I’ll probably be picking it up since I got back from my “Dark Ages” a little late.

Below are the details of the UCS Red Five X-wing Starfighter:

LEGO Shop@Home Retiring Soon List Updated

LEGO has updated their list of “Retiring Soon” sets on Shop@Homeicon. What’s interesting is the Legend of Chima Speedorz sets are the first in the theme to go away because they just came out late 2012/early 2013. We already know that there will be another wave of Chima sets this summer but it seems a little fast to retire these so early. If you’ve been holding off getting them, I’d suggest picking them up as soon as possible.

Update from LEGO:

Just wanted to clarify that there is no mistake on the Friends and Chima items. The Friends Pets and Chima Speedorz are set to refresh on much shorter timelines than most sets.

LEGO City Undercover Limited Edition on Nintendo Wii U Europe

LEGO City: Undercover Limited Edition

I’m not sure how I missed this but last month Nintendo announced there will be a limited edition of LEGO City Undercover for the Wii U which will include the Chase McCain minifigure. This bundle will be a European exclusive and is set to be released on March 28. If you were in the US, you had a chance to get the minifigure last year when Target stores were selling it with preorders of the game. There’s no word yet on how much the bundle will cost.
