LEGO The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Teaser Trailer

The new Hobbit movie, The Desolation of Smaug, doesn’t come out in theaters until December 13th but the official teaser trailer has been out for a few months now. There have been many great videos of trailers being made from LEGO bricks and we can now add another one to the list. The Brotherhood Workshop has released the trailer of the LEGO version of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and it looks amazing! It took two months and many many hours to create but the finished product is well worth it. You can check out the video below or if you want to watch the official version and the LEGO version side-by-side, you can go here to watch them together.

Update: The Brotherhood Workshop has also created a video comparing their version and the official version.

Turmoil and Drama on LEGO CUUSOO

As you may have read last week, I did a couple of posts here to help spread the news about BrickQueen’s Jurassic Park projects on LEGO CUUSOO, the Jungle Explorer T-Rex Encounter and the Triceratops Encounter. Besides the Jurassic Park projects, she also had a couple of Super Heroes sets that were doing pretty good as well such as her Killer Croc’s Lair project which was about to hit 5,000 supporters. Well I have some sad news to report. It appears that her account has been banned/suspended and all the projects were deleted and it wasn’t something she has done wrong. She has released a video (below) explaining what happened. It was stated in the video that another user recently posted another Jurassic Park project and has been flagging BrickQueen’s projects and also rallying his “supporters” to flag her projects as well.

We’ve had many projects that had the similar concepts and ideas going on simultaneously on CUUSOO before but we’ve never seen this happen. The video also goes on to explain that she has gotten personal messages from various individuals saying terrible things and it absolutely sickens me that people would go that far to ruin someone else’s hopes and dreams. You can hear the pain in her voice as she tries to explain the situation. The pain of something that you worked very hard on and it going down the drain by forces not of your control. We are all LEGO fans here, are we not? We’re here to support the creators and … Continue

10,511 Piece LEGO Video Game Characters Mosaic For Sale

A seller by the name of Mytemporaryshop on Etsy is selling a 10,511 piece LEGO mosaic that features many SEGA and Nintendo video game characters for a small sum of $4,823.93. The mosaic was created on 15 large grey baseplates and is measured at 75″ x 45″. The profits that the seller receives will go towards their friend’s school project in Africa so it’s a nice little donation for a great piece of work. If you have a couple grand to spare and have some space on your wall, why not pick up it up and have a LEGO masterpiece hanging on your wall.

New 2014 LEGO Creator Polybags: Race Car (31017) & Monkey (31019)

There are a couple new 2014 LEGO Creator polybags that have appeared on Brickset’s database and have gotten people excited, the Race Car (31017) and the Monkey (31019). The Race Car is mostly orange and has a Le Mans Prototype feel to it. It can rebuilt into a Kenworth cabover diesel truck. The Monkey polybag (31019) is comprised of the monkey, a banana, and a toucan. From the reactions I’ve been seeing around the interwebs, this looks to be a hot-selling polybag. The set names are not the official names, just placeholders until LEGO releases the official names. There’s no word yet on how to get these new polybags.

Red Clay School District Sets Guinness World Record For Tallest LEGO Tower

The Red Clay Consolidated School District in Wilmington, DE have set the Guinness World Record for the tallest LEGO tower at 112 feet, 11 and 3/4 inches. The tower was created using more than half a million bricks and weighed in at almost a ton. The project started in March and took students throughout the summer to finish their section of the tower and today was completed around 6:45pm at John Dickinson High School. There were 28 schools in the district that worked together to create the mammoth structure. All the bricks that were used were not from school funds but with donations from all over the world. The previous world record was set in Prague, Czech Republic in September 2012 and was at 106 feet and 7 inches. Portions of the record setting tower will now be given to individuals who donated $25 or more towards the project and some will be going back to the schools for educational purposes. The remaining bricks will be sold and the funds will be going back to the Red Clay district for school activities.
