Designer extraordinaire, Tobias Tøstesen, has created a 8000 piece floor-to-ceiling chandelier using half cylinder transparent bricks and was displayed during Milan Design Week 2013. Tøstesen opted not to use light bulbs for the chandelier but used the curved bricks to obtain the ever-changing lighting throughout the day. Although the design is makes it look similar to a crystal chandelier, it is still an amazing piece of work nonetheless.
Tsang Yiu Keung of HKLUG has posted instructions on how you can build your own Iron Man Mark I minifigure using mostly spare parts that you probably have lying somewhere. I’m just amazed how easy it is to create one. Time to go make me one to add to my collection!
Drew Maughan, aka SilentMode, has created a nifty LEGO project called Project Swapfig and he needs your support on Kickstarter. If you haven’t heard of Kickstarter, it is a crowd funding site that allows individuals to promote their ideas and hopefully have enough supporters to get their project off the ground.
So what is Project Swapfig? It is a “site where collectors of LEGO minifigures can trade their unwanted figures for ones they want.” Why is this a good idea to support? It’s because there’s not really any good trading sites out there and this is where Project Swapfig bridges the gap for traders even more.
Right now the project is at about 38% supported but it still needs your help to reach the goal of £3,000 but time is of the essence because there is only 6 days left to support it. I believe the goal is still reachable but only if you help spread the word on this awesome project.
Project Swapfig will be launching May 1st whether or not the goal will be reached but the funds will immensely help with the development of the site. There are some bonuses you get if you do pledge your money to support Drew and his creation such as some custom minifigures you won’t find anywhere else. Head on over to Kickstarter to see what you could get as well as demo images of what the site has to offer.

If you’ve been wondering why we haven’t done any LEGO reviews, it’s because we have been busy moving to our new home. This will be our very first review in our new location. We are sorry about the lateness but we still hope you enjoy reading this. We have better lighting here so we’re looking forward to seeing how our images come out.
Today, we bring you the smallest of the new LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man 3 sets, the Iron Man vs. The Mandarin: Ultimate Showdown (76008). 122 years ago today, the founder of LEGO was born. Ole Kirk Christiansen came from an impoverished family in Filskov, Denmark and trained as a carpenter. He started making wooden toys in 1932 and a couple of years later, the rest is history. Unfortunately, Ole never got to see how successful LEGO really had become. I like to wish the creator of one of the best toy companies a very happy birthday! Without him, this site or any other LEGO site wouldn’t have been possible. If you haven’t watched The LEGO Story before, I recommend you do so to learn more about Ole and the LEGO company. If you’ve watched it before, why not watch it again 🙂
The new LEGO The Lone Ranger sets are now available for pre-order on Amazon’s website with a shipping date of April 15th. If you remember, Walmart was selling the sets early but later stopped consumers from purchasing them after they realized they realized their mistake. Only the three smaller sets are available for pre-order as of this time and the Colby City Showdown (79109) hasn’t even shown up on the site yet. You can help support The Brick Fan if you purchase from the links below and in return we can help bring you more great news and reviews.
**Update – The Colby City Showdown has now shown up on Amazon.**
