A few years ago, LEGO introduced the Mosaic Maker at flagship LEGO stores in which you can take a picture and you can get to build a portrait of yourself. There is now a product listing for the Personalised Mosaic Portrait (40179) for $129.99 and you can upload an image to the tool to get the parts for the image shipped straight to your house. There are some limitations to what image you can use which is stated in the terms of service. The price is $129.99 and as of this post, it qualifies you for a LEGO City promo. Of course, this item may not be relevant to you but it does make a great gift item. Thanks to Akindu for the heads up.

For those who have the cashflow, the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) has been changed to backorder status and that means that you can now place orders for it. It’s been a while since the set has been available for retail price and it will ship within 60 days. The UCS Falcon has been a staple on my coffee table ever since I built it for a review back in 2017 and it still gets comments when people come over.

The Baba Yaga project by Artem Biziaev is the latest one to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The build is based on the iconic character from Slavic fairy tales. The main build is the Hut on Hen’s Legs that opens up to reveal details inside. What’s more interesting about this project is that the required amount of supporters needed in less than a day.

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Ox (40417) Review

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Ox (40417)

In just a few days, LEGO will have a new promotion on the LEGO Shop for the LEGO Seasonal Year of the Ox (40417). You’ll be able to get it for free with purchases of $85 or more, while supplies last.

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Ox (40417)

Like with the previous Chinese Zodiac animal GWPs, it comes in a flap box and it also includes an envelope for putting money in as a gift.

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Ox (40417)

The build is a cartoonish style ox that is sitting on a display stand. The ox has articulation on the arms and legs by the way of some ball joints and the head is on a turntable spinner. The ears are on hinges so they are able to move up and down.

The stand has a more autumn feel to it with the color scheme but it works well with the color of the ox. There are a couple of jumper plates to allow it to sit on it but it’s not too secure.

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Ox (40417)

The Year of the Ox (40417) is the seventh one in the Chinese New Year series and it’s an okay build. Ranking it alongside the other animals that have released so far in terms of design, I would place it fifth. Of course, that’s just my opinion and you may have it ranked higher. The Year of the Dog (40235) is still my favorite one mainly because I love the look of it and that is my zodiac animal.

The promotion for this set will run from February 1-14 with purchases of $85 or … Continue
