The Mary Poppins, Cherry Tree Lane by Disneybrick55 is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. It features the main part of Cherry Tree Lane where the Banks family lives along with some side buildings. What’s interesting about this project is that it is build like a movie set where the back part of the houses are open but there are details inside the houses. The project also proposes minifigures of Mary Poppins, Bert, George Banks, Winifred Banks, Jane Banks, Michael Banks, Admiral Boom, and Mr. Dawes Jr. This is the first project to reach the LEGO Ideas First 2020 Review Stage.

The LEGO Lunar New Year Dragon (40395) building event at LEGO Stores will be happening on January 23 but LEGO has already provided the building instructions for you to download. Signups for the event started earlier this week but you can try to see if there are any spots left and it is intended for kids ages 6-14.
As for the build itself, there aren’t any exclusive parts but the 1x1x2/3 bow plate is still fairly new as it was only introduced last year.

There are now official images of the upcoming LEGO Seasonal Year of the Rat (40355) set. It has 162 pieces and you will be able to get it for free with purchases of $80 or more starting on January 13.
As you can see from the images below, there’s actually a lot of articulation with the Rat with the moveable ear, hands, and tail. Along with the set, you also get a “red” envelope where you can put money in and give to others.
The promotion will run until January 26, while supplies last.

The two new LEGO Chinese Traditional Festival sets are now available for purchase on LEGO Shop@Home. These two sets include the Lion Dance (80104) and the Chinese New Year Temple Fair (80105). The Lion Dance is $79.99 for 882 pieces while the Chinese New Year Temple Fair is $119.99 with 1664 pieces.
The Year of the Rat promotion starts on January 13 but the two sets will probably sell out and go on backorder status before the promo even starts so I suggest buying them now if you really want them.

LEGO hasn’t officially revealed the LEGO Ideas International Space Station (21321) yet but there is already a flyer being given out at a German LEGO Brand Store showing the set and announcing a signing event for it. The ISS was the winner of the fan vote which allowed a previously not approved project to become an official LEGO Ideas set and it garnered almost 46% of the votes. The fan designer signing event will be held at the Nürnberg LEGO Brand Store on January 31 from 17:00-20:00.

The LEGO Newsstand Building Event was held at LEGO Brand Stores yesterday and I was able to attend my store to build it and take home. I was also allowed to take the building instructions with me so I can scan it and share with you guys who weren’t able to attend. As far as parts are concerned, I believe the 1×6 sand blue plates are exclusive. There were sand blue plates released before but they were last used in 2003. Some of the other sand blue pieces used were only in the LEGO Stranger Things The Upside Down (75810) and LEGO Hidden Side Shrimp Shack Attack (70422). As for the purpose of the build, my store didn’t have the 1×6 plates and they substituted dark gray ones for them which was a bummer. I’m not sure if other stores had the same issue or not.

The build itself is pretty cool and it complements the new LEGO Creator Bookshop (10270) very well. I will say the instructions could have been better. Steps 3 and 4 as well as 9 and 10 could have been separated by each shelf. The shelves are very flimsy and it would have been better to put the items for each shelf instead of building the shelves first then putting all the items on. All in all, getting this 155 piece set for free was awesome since it would have probably cost $10-15 if LEGO sold it by itself. Below are the building instructions for the set which you save.… Continue
