LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Pod (5005376) Promotion Cancelled

LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Pod

For those who have been for the LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Pod (5005376) that’s supposed to come out later this month as a promotion, I’m sorry to say that the product has been cancelled. I’ve known this information for a few days now but LEGO has released an official statement of why the promo will not be happening.

Star Wars Pod No. 5005376

We have to inform that as part of our internal quality screening process, we have found that the Star Wars Metalized Pod 5005376 does not meet our strict standards. As you know, we take the quality and safety of our products extremely seriously, and so out of an abundance of caution we have decided not to launch the Star Wars Pod.

We are committed to continuing support for our Star Wars promotion, and will offer consumers 10% off across all LEGO® Star Wars products from 18th – 24th December 2017, excluding the Millennium Falcon product (75192).

The LEGO Group Wins Copyright Infringement Case Against BELA

In The LEGO Group’s seemingly endless fight against counterfeiters, the company has announced they have won against a company in China that infringes upon their copyrights. In September, the China Shantou Intermediate People’s Court ruled that BELA had indeed copied LEGO in various ways including the packaging and logo of their products from various subthemes. This marks the first time that LEGO has won a copyright infringement case in China. There is also another company that LEGO also filed a case against. There are no details on the other one at this time. Check out the full press release below.

The LEGO Group has received a favorable decision from China Shantou Intermediate People’s Court in September holding that certain BELA products infringed upon the copyrights of the LEGO Group and that manufacturing and selling of those products constituted acts of unfair competition. It is the first time the LEGO Group has filed and won an anti-unfair competition case against imitators in China.

The case was filed against two Chinese companies, which had been manufacturing and selling products that were almost identical to LEGO®products. The decisions come into effect in November 2017.

The court decided that the two Chinese companies must stop copying the packaging and logos of LEGO products in the future, as this constitutes copyright infringement. The court also decided that the LEGO Group enjoys protection under Chinese anti-unfair competition laws for the distinctive and unique appearance of certain decorative aspects of its packaging across particular product lines (in this case, LEGO Friends), which serves

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253) – Day 6

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253)

Throughout the days of the 2017 Christmas Build Up (40253), the builds pretty much have something that revolved around the theme of Christmas but for today’s build, it seems that we’ve jumped into springtime. That’s because the build for today is a ladybug but after doing some research it might be based on the Christmas special for the French animated series, Miraculous Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. Or maybe I’m just trying too hard to find a Christmas connection…

Anyways, the ladybug looks cute especially with the use of the 1×1 round eyelash tiles. There are no legs used but I think it looks fine just the way it is, don’t you think?

LEGO Friends 2018 Design Change Explained

LEGO Friends Friendship House (41340)

The 2018 LEGO Friends sets will be coming out in a few weeks and you’ve probably noticed that there are some slight changes to the girls. The LEGO Friends design team in Billund has given an official announcement of why they’ve changed which you can read below.

Every year we strive to innovate and make our products even better for children all over the world. A lot of effort has gone into the development of the LEGO characters and universes across our entire product range, so it makes us very happy when changes are noticed.

LEGO Friends in 2018 looks a bit different than what it has in the past. To be specific, the 5 main characters have a slightly different look but also the city and the citizens of Heartlake City have changed.

But what are the reasons for the change?

Firstly, we want to assure you that all 5 friends are still there in 2018.

Andrea, Mia, Emma, Stephanie and Olivia – they all still exist! Also the character’s main interests and personalities remain mainly unchanged.

What you will see in 2018 is an evolution of LEGO Friends, a progression of the story and characters to make sure children get an even greater play experience. Every year more than a million children and parents reach out to us and share what they love and what they would like to change. In the LEGO Friends range children told us that they would like even more differentiated characters and also suggested improvements to Heartlake City.

Could We See LEGO X-Men and Fantastic Four Sets in the Future?

CNBC is reporting that Disney and Fox are close on a deal for Disney to acquire assets from Fox which include the 20th Century Fox movie studio for about $60 billion. This means that Disney will regain the film rights to all of the Marvel comics characters which include the X-Men and Fantastic Four.

This is some great news that fans have been waiting for but for LEGO fans, this might mean that we could be getting more properies for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets like X-Men, Fantastic Four, etc. We’ve gotten LEGO sets here and there from Fox properties like the Mighty Micros: Wolverine vs. Magneto (76073) but the last larger set was the X-Men vs. The Sentinel (76022) way back in 2014.

The Disney/Fox deal, which is expected to be announced next week, possibly opens the door for LEGO to maybe start planning on trying to get some licensing deals with those properties. Fingers crossed for some 90’s style X-Men characters if this deal gets done!

Amazon BOGO 50% LEGO Sale

Amazon has a great BOGO 50% deal going on for some select LEGO sets. The sets are from various themes like Star Wars, The LEGO Batman Movie and DC Super Hero Girls, and more. All of the sets are already on sale so you can get a better deal on some of these sets if you don’t have them yet. The promotion runs until December 9.

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253) – Day 5

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253)

Trucking along my review of the LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build Up (40253), today we have something that do don’t see as much of but they have documented for Christmas. Here we have an interesting looking windmill. If you look closely, it resembles some decorative sculptures with the windmill standing prominently in the middle. In the front where the tan cheese slope is at, I believe that’s a house of some sort and some trees in the front and back of the model. Honestly, today’s build is a little random but it doesn’t look too bad if you know what it sort of resembles.
