LEGO has just released a teaser of the LEGO Ideas Tron Legacy (21314) which is reported to be releasing in April. As you can see below, it teaser shows Sam Flynn and Clu on their respective light cycles riding off into the distance. The offficial should be coming pretty soon as some images of the set has already surfaced online the past few days.
In some lighter news on a polybag found at a retailer that won’t be closing any time soon, the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Guardian’s Ship (30525) is now available for purchase at Walmart. The polybag was originally available on Shop@Home a few weeks ago as a gift-with-purchase but you can get it by itself for $3.97 each. They can be found at the LEGO section of the store. It looks like the sun will be setting for Toys R Us permanently as The Wall Street Journal has reported that the company will sell or close all of its remaining stores in the United States. The news came from CEO David Brandon in a conference call to employees and it will result in about 33,000 people losing their jobs, me included. It was been reported that Toys R Us will file for liquidation ahead of the court hearing tomorrow. I’ve read that Toys R Us Canada will not be affected but Toys R Us UK will be closing their stores as well.
I started a Toys R Us a few years ago during the holiday season and was actually pretty excited for it. It was busy and I remember working long hours but it was worth it to see kids and adults happy. That all changed recently after the company filed for bankruptcy last year. The mood shifted and everyone was on edge thinking when our last day will be. I honestly still don’t know as the conference call happened after I got off work today. I will probably hear more about it tomorrow.
Just the feeling of walking into a legit toy store is different from your other retailers like Walmart or Target whose selection isn’t as vast as Toys R Us. Target has a new online Spring promotion going on when you purchase LEGO sets with your REDcard. As you see above, you can get the Iconic Easter (5004468) set with a $20 purchase or more on select LEGO sets.
There is a limited quantity and will be added to your cart if you made the requirement and if you’ve linked your REDcard to your account. The promotion excludes Hard to Find items and DUPLO and ends on March 24 at 11:59 pst.
If you don’t care about the promo at all, you can just buy the set outright for $5.99 each.

LEGO Rebrick has a new building contest to win some serious prizes including a collection of the summer 2018 LEGO Friends sets. We haven’t seen the summer 2018 LEGO Friends sets yet but according to the prize descriptions, they will be a racing subtheme this year. LEGO wants you to build a 8×12 stud LEGO Friends Go-Kart vignette which has to consist of a Go-Kart along with some surrounding actions. This could be some characters preparing for the race, trees, street, part of a race track, or traffic signs. The build should only relate to LEGO Friends and fit into the Heartlake City universe. This means no third part IPs including LEGO IPs.
There will be one grand prize winner, who will receive:

The trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald dropped earlier today and LEGO has revealed potentially one of the sets that will accompany the movie. The set features a Thestral-draen carriage along with Johnny Depp’s Grindelwald along with a female minifigure.
There’s also reported to be another set fir the movie tentatively named Newt Scamander’s Suitcase where it features a brick-built suitcase which can open up to show a scene from the movie.
I believe the sets will be available starting in August so we can probably see them at San Diego Comic Con in a few months.
Update: It is confirmed that this will be a new set.

The trailer for Incredibles 2 came out during the 2018 Winter Olympics and we didn’t really much there but Walmart has released the images of the LEGO Juniors sets that will be accompanying the movie. There are three sets and you’ll have to get them all to get the whole family. The one set, Elistagirl’s Rooftop Pursuit (10759), wasn’t shown.
