NASA’s Missions: Imagine and Build Contest on ReBrick

ReBrick is having a new contest in collaboration with NASA and The LEGO Group called NASA’s Missions: Imagine and Build. Winners of the contest will be able win some pretty nice prizes including recognition by NASA. The contest began yesterday and entries have to be submitted by July 31st, 2013 2:59pm CEST (8:59am EST). Judging will start on August 5th and the winners will be announced the week of September 1st. The competitions is split into two categories but you can enter into both if you like.

Imagine Our Future Beyond Earth

Builders 16 years old and older are invited to journey into space and beyond by creating one of NASA’s future missions with LEGO bricks. Builders can be imaginative as they wish, although their entry should reflect one of the missions NASA has listed on their website. These missions are planned until the 2030s so there should be no shortage of inspiration! All entries must be bookmarked to ReBrick in the “Building Challenge” category. The winners will be chosen by a committee of judges, please see official rules for details.

The grand prize includes 21101 LEGO CUUSOO Hayabusa set, signed by the LEGO designer Melody Louise Caddick, recognition and honorable mention on NASA.gov, and a collection of NASA memorabilia including a personalized signed lithograph of the astronaut from the judges committee. There will also be two runner-ups, see official rules for those prizes.

LEGO DC Universe Superman: Metropolis Showdown (76002) Review

With the impending release of the Man of Steel movie this month, LEGO has decided to create sets based on the movie. Here we have the LEGO DC Universe Superman: Metropolis Showdown (76002). This set has 119 pieces and retails for $12.99, a $0.11/piece ratio. It is the smallest of the three Man of Steel sets that were released. The box contains two unnumbered bags, two instruction booklets, and a couple of loose pieces. We weren’t sure why a set so small had two instruction booklets when LEGO could’ve fit it all in one booklet.

LEGO Star Wars Ewok Village (10236) Confirmed Set?

DSC07310

Flickr member, mexxbear, has posted an image of what could be the long rumored LEGO Star Wars Ewok Village (10236). Hoth Bricks is reporting that GRogall has seen it and even has a price of € 249.99 for the set. There’s no “official” statement or images yet for the Ewok Village but it won’t be long until that news is uncovered by the LEGO community. From what we can see in the image, there are four Rebel Troopers, C-3P0, three Ewoks, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, and Chewbacca. The set itself is somewhat similar to the Ewok Attack (7956) from a couple of years ago. The set depicts the scene in Episode VI: Return of the Jedi where the heroes are captured by the Ewoks on the forest moon of Endor. If this is the real set that will be released, what do you think of it and will you be picking it up?

In other news, GRogall also announced two other sets to be released this year: LEGO Creator Sydney Opera House (10234) for € 279.99 LEGO Seasonal Winter Village Market (10235) for € 89.99.

Update: mexxbear has confirmed that the image above is indeed a MOC. After seeing the MOC and what the official set could look like, the wait of seeing the real set is even more excruciating since we’ve been waiting so long for a set like this. Hopefully we’ll get to see it soon.

Update 2: The set has been officially announced.

LEGO Ninjago 2014 Set Names Leaked?

LEGO Ninjago 2014?

Back in December of last year, we reported that Ninjago will be coming back in 2014 after a year off when the tv series ended. Kockamania is reporting that Ninjago may be coming back sooner than expected, as soon as December of this year. They also list a number of sets that will be released in that wave in Hungarian language. The sets listed are not the final names but are just translated into English. From the preview image above, you can see that Zane is more robotic looking so there’s rumors that the next wave of sets will be more mechanical and more robotic looking. If this information is true, what do you think of these sets just from their names?
