The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks Book Announced

A couple of weeks ago, LEGO on the LEGO Ideas platform did a fan vote for an upcoming book geared towards AFOLs and the winning title has been announced as The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks. You will be able to pre-order it at Unbound and if you do, your name will be printed on the back of the book. There will also be rewards as part of the pre-orders including a print of the LEGO Wooden Duck with more to be revealed later on.

The Secret Life of LEGO Bricks won’t be released until 2022 but the pre-orders will be accepted through early 2021. The book will feature a variety of LEGO elements, from monorail tracks and wheels to smart bricks, the Mask of Life from BIONICLE, and more. It will be written by Daniel Konstanski, US editor of Blocks Magazine, who I’ve met before a few times at Philly Brick Fest.

Unbound is excited to announce a major new initiative with AMEET, the LEGO Group’s global strategic publishing partner, to launch the first official direct-to-consumer book created in partnership with Adult Fans of LEGO®️ (AFOLs).

LEGO Creator Winter Village Elf Clubhouse (10275) Rumored for 2020

Continuing with the rumor mill, there is now information on possibly what this year’s LEGO Creator Winter Village set will be. Word has it that the 2020 Winter Village set will be an Elf Clubhouse (10275). It not usual that we get something elf-centric but it seems that it may go well with the Santa’s Workshop (10245) and Toy Workshop (40106) from 2014. Can you believe we haven’t had any elves for the Winter Village in that many years? It doesn’t seem like it to me as I can clearly remember it being released in stores. Anyways, consider the Elf Clubhouse only as a rumor until LEGO announces it in the upcoming months.

LEGO Creator Expert Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (10274) Rumored for 2021

There’s a new rumor going around the internet for about a few days about a new LEGO Creator Expert Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (10274) coming out some time in 2021. If you remember late last year, there was another rumor of some Ghostbusters: Afterlife sets that were set to be released this year in conjunction with the movie release but all that got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This rumor, which comes from Eurobricks, says it will retail for $200 and is in the style of the Creator Expert vehicles like the James Bond Aston Martin DB5 (10262) and the Fiat 500 (10271). Note that the Aston Martin was also based on a movie as well. This also means that the Ecto-1 won’t be in minifigure scale which and will probably be in the system sets that were supposed to be out for the new movie.

Again, all rumors are treated as such until LEGO officially announces it or leaked images start showing up online which has been happening a lot for every big release. The image above is not the rumored set but of the LEGO Ideas one that was released a few years ago.

LEGO Sets Not Retiring in 2020

I’ve recently talked about some LEGO sets that are set to be retiring at the end of the year but I’ve also been asked if certain sets will be staying or not. I have some new information about a couple of sets that you don’t have to worry about it going away after 2020. I’ve been told from my source that the LEGO Stranger Things The Upside Down (75810) and The Disney Castle (71040) will not be retired and will be available for the foreseeable future.

Currently The Upside Down is still in stock on LEGO Shop@Home but the Disney Castle has been on backorder status for a while now. Fortunately, LEGO is accepting backorders and it’ll be shipped in 60 days. You can also use the stock check to see if your nearest LEGO Brand Store has it on the shelves.

LEGO Star Wars Battle Packs Ending After 2020?

The LEGO Star Wars Battle Packs have been a staple for the theme for many years but it looks like they might be going away after 2020. For army builders, these were great sets for certain minifigures for a relatively cheap price and they also included some small builds to go along with it.

There’s a new rumor going around on Eurobricks discussing that the Battle Packs may be going away by the end of the year. There’s no concrete evidence showing this is true we’ll hold off on calling it done completely. One theory is that with the release of the 501st Legion Clone Troopers (75280), LEGO might be taking a year off to focus on producing these highly popular and desired minifigures.

Currently, the only two Battle Packs on the market are the Sith Troopers Battle Pack (75266) and the Mandalorian Battle Pack (75267).

LEGO Star Wars Tantive IV (75244) Back in Stock on Amazon

Amazon currently has the LEGO Star Wars Tantive IV (75244) in stock at retail price. This set has been out of stock for a bit and is still temporarily out of stock on LEGO Shop@Home. It is one of the more iconic ships in the Star Wars Universe and there hasn’t been many versions of it in LEGO form. The Tantive IV is rumored to be retiring at the end of the year but I haven’t gotten any confirmation on that yet.

LEGO Releases Final Statement Regarding LEGO Technic Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey (42113) Cancellation

LEGO has released their final statement regarding the cancellation of the LEGO Technic Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey (42113) on the LAN. It didn’t change much from the previous announcement although there have been some functionality issues regarding the gears during the reviews of the set. LEGO said that did not factor into the cancellation.

On another note, LEGO is discussing with BrickLink to have the Osprey listed in the catalog but will be not listed for sale. This is purely to keep the database updated as much as possible. More details of this will be shared later on.

The decision not to launch the LEGO Technic V-22 Osprey was made solely due to the fact that the set breached our policy of not creating real military vehicles. There were no other factors that influenced the decision in any way.

This is just a quick update to say we are discussing with Bricklink about having 42113 included in the catalog but not listed for sale. It should be noted that Las Vegas (Early Version with Mandalay Bay Hotel) was only added to the catalog after 2+ years had passed, so we might not be able to add 42113 immediately. We will share more details once we have aligned with the Bricklink team.
