LEGO Ideas Third 2019 Results Coming Soon

There hasn’t been any word yet but I have a feeling that the LEGO Ideas Third 2019 Results will be announced soon. LEGO did state that the results should be revealed in summer 2020 but we haven’t officially hit summer yet which actually starts next week. Last year, the 2018 results were announced in May but due to COVID-19, everything has been pushed back a little this year. Also the fact that some LEGO employees have started talking about it is another sign that the results should be coming pretty soon. I expect LEGO to start doing teasers for it as well.

As a reminder, there are twelve projects that qualified for the Third 2019 Review Stage and they are:

Queen: I Want to Break Free – Han Sbricksteen
Seinfeld 30th Anniversary – BrentWaller
The Legend of Zelda: BotW Stables – Hanwasyellowfirst
Planet Express Delivery Ship – Nicola Stocchi & gabriele.zannotti
Ratatouille: Open The Doors! – Brick Project
LEGO Typewriter – Steve Guinness
The Legend of the BIONICLE – Sokoda
The Huascar – aldrin
Winter Chalet – sdrnet
Toronto Rocket Subway Train – Legovader217
Home Alone McCallister’s House – adwind
Clockwork Aquarium – mjsmiley

Which one(s) do you think will be chosen to become an official LEGO Ideas set? Let us know down below.

LEGO Supporting Kids Impacted by COVID-19 in India

We all know that LEGO has been helping kids around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic and they have recently announced that they have launched initiatives in India in collaboration with NITI Aayog and Save The Children. This partnership is part of the previous announced $50 million overall commitment to help children and families impacted by COVID-19 around the world.

The LEGO Group Collaborates with Save the Children and NITI Aayog to Support Children Impacted by COVID-19 in India

The LEGO Group, in collaboration with NITI Aayog and Save The Children, has introduced targeted initiatives in India to promote ‘Learning Through Play’ and support home-based learning during these unprecedented times, while strengthening community efforts to respond to COVID 19. The new partnership forms part of the LEGO Group and LEGO Foundation’s overall commitment of US $50 million globally to help children and their families impacted by COVID 19.

The LEGO Group has partnered with Save the Children to promote responsive care-giving and play based learning practices for children aged 3-8 years both at state and national levels. This effort will help in strengthening communities to combat COVID-19 by providing educational kits and play materials for use at home as well as guiding parents and caregivers on hygiene and responsive caregiving. The initiative will also improve access to quality pre-school education through the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and pre-school Centres when they re-open. It will focus on building capacity of pre-school Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) and ICDS functionaries to support the development and school

LEGO House Exclusive Wooden Duck (40501) Revealed

Earlier this year, it was reported that the LEGO House Tree of Creativity (4000026) would be retired and a new exclusive set would be taking its place. Fast forward to today, we now know of the set thanks to Brickset which is the Wooden Duck (40501). The building instructions were found uploaded to Customer Service but it looks like they have been quickly taken down.

The set pays homage to the Wooden Duck created by Ole Kirk Christiansen that was released in 1935. Like with other LEGO House exclusives, I don’t see it being available online and will be only available at the LEGO House, unless you have connections or purchase them off the secondary market.

LEGO Technic Powered Up Components to be Sold Individually

LEGO has announced that you will be able to buy certain LEGO Powered Up components that were found in various Technic sets separately starting on June 1. This allows builders to further enhance their builds without having to invest in a whole set just to get the parts.

A message from Gaute Munch, Director Product Technology (Product owner of Powered UP)

For the past two years we have been in dialog with Ambassadors here on the LAN about Powered Up. The feedback that you have shared has been greatly appreciated. It has been insightful but also pleasure to work and brainstorm with different AFOLs around the world on Powered Up. If you are a member of a Recognized Community, thank you.

Today, we are excited to share the news below with you. We are even more excited to know what your plans are? Are there existing sets you are already excited to modify? Are these going straight into your MOCs? It is almost time for show-and-tell!

Great News on Powered Up Components!

Until now our LEGO® Technic™ Powered Up components have only been available to buy as part of the sets and we know that some of you have been interested in having the electronic components available to be sold separately.

Powered Up components are the hubs, motors, lights, sensors and control handsets that can help builders bring their LEGO models to life. The components can be used to add motorized movement and light features to models, and control them through the Powered UP App.
