LEGO Announces New LEGO Replay Pilot Program

If you’re like me and have way too many LEGO bricks, LEGO has launched a new pilot program called LEGO Replay which allows you to donate bricks you don’t want to children’s non-profits in the US. LEGO is working with three different organizations including Give Back Box, Teach For America, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. Check out the press release below.

ENFIELD, CONNECTICUT, October 8, 2019: Today, The LEGO Group announced the launch of LEGO® Replay, a pilot program that will accept any and all previously used LEGO bricks and donate them to children’s non-profits in the United States. The effort is a collaboration with Give Back Box, Teach For America, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston.

The process is simple: collect any loose LEGO bricks, sets, or elements, place them into a cardboard box, and visit www.lego.com/replay to print out a free UPS shipping label. The package will be sent to the Give Back Box facility, where each brick will be sorted, inspected by hand, and given a rigorous cleaning. This process is possible because LEGO bricks are made from high-quality, durable materials, designed to be used for generations.

“We know people don’t throw away their LEGO bricks,” said Tim Brooks, Vice President, Environmental Responsibility at the LEGO Group. “The vast majority hand them down to their children or grandchildren. But others have asked us for a safe way to dispose or donate their bricks, so with Replay, they have an easy option that’s both sustainable and socially impactful.”

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Rumored Price Increase in 2020

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 19 (71025)

In 2020, we’ll be getting a few series of LEGO Collectible Minifigures and it looks like we’ll be paying a little bit more for them. For about five years now, the LEGO Collectible Minifigures have been priced at $3.99 each but it looks like it will jump up a dollar next year. This comes from an email that I got a few weeks back and it looks to be confirmed by another source.

I’m not sure of the reasoning behind the rumored price increase but I’m sure fans will not be too pleased about it if is true, however, there are some cool new things that are rumored for 2020 which I’ll talk about later on which could be a reasoning of why we’ll be paying more for them. Of course, treat this as a rumor but considering two different sources have said it, I would say it may be true.

LEGO Star Wars 2019 Retiring Soon List

This weekend is the LEGO Star Wars Triple Force Friday weekend promotion and included are some sales on the sets. I have been sent over a list of some retiring LEGO Star Wars sets that you can use to get the free Battle of Endor (40362) set. Some of these sets were actually released this year and for LEGO to already put them on the retiring list is an indication that they didn’t sell as well as they thought or they only had a short run for them. Thanks to Jason for sending the list over.

LEGO Technic Top Gear Rumored Set Details

A few days ago, it was announced that LEGO is partnering up with the newer version of Top Gear to release a LEGO Technic set that will be released next year. The details were pretty much nonexistent but it looks like the folks at Promobricks has found out something about it. It is reported that it will be set number 42109 and it will have 463 pieces while retailing for €129.99. It will also implement the new CONTROL+ system and controlled using the app. It was also stated that the set will be a white rally car with some stickers of The Stig and the UK flag. As always, these are strictly rumors until LEGO officially announces the set or it shows up at a verified retailer.

LEGO Technic Top Gear Set Coming in 2020

LEGO has announced a new partnership with the hit BBC TV show Top Gear to produce a LEGO Technic Top Gear set that is set to be released in 2020. As you may remember, there was a rumor from many years ago that we could be getting Top Gear sets which ended up becoming the LEGO Speed Champions theme.

This new Technic set will be based on the BBC Two show starring Paddy McGuinness, Freddie Flintoff, and Chris Harris. BBC Studios Head of Licensing, Jason Easy, states, “It’s certainly a natural fit for both and we’re looking forward to seeing the LEGO Technic Set hit the shelves next year.”

There’s no word on whether we’ll get the three in minifigure form but considering that it’s a Technic set, it’ll probably just be a larger scale vehicle.

Thanks to Richie for the heads up.
