LEGO Ninjago SDCC 2017 Panel Recap

The LEGO Ninjago TV series panel was earlier today at San Diego Comic Con 2017 and there was some new information regarding Season 8. I was also live-tweeting the panel which can check out on Twitter.

The panel consisted of Writers Kevin and Dan Hageman, showrunner Tommy Andreasen, senior creative director Simon Lucas, IP lead Nelson Lamonica, and suprise guest David Shayne. The first thing the panel talked about was last season’s Hands of Time.

Finally, there was the big question of where Wu is. We’ll find out more in Season 8. One cool thing that was touched on was some kids at last year’s panel gave some suggestions on how Zane got his powers and the Hagemans took those suggestions and we will be seeing them next season.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Poster

MTV has revealed a new San Diego Comic Con 2017 promotional poster for The LEGO Ninjago Movie. It features Garmadon and Lloyd at the top with the Ninjas and Master Wu at the bottom. It was given away during the autograph signing event.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie has a pretty big presence at SDCC this year and we’re all excited for the upcoming panel which should have a new trailer for the movie as well.

San Diego Comic Con 2017 Preview Night kicked off earlier today and as soon as the doors were open, I headed straight to the LEGO booth where it was featuring a lot of The LEGO Ninjago Movie. All of the sets accompanying the movie were on display but we also got a look at one of the sets that will be coming out later in the year with garmadon, Garmadon, GARMADON! (70656). We got a set description of it last month and we finally have a good look at it. The set was shown in the trailer and it includes Garmadon’s shark mech but it also has a little hot dog stand with the Hot Dog Guy minifigure as well. It has 830 pieces and will retail for $79.99 starting on December 1.

Did a LEGO Designer Hint at the Rumored LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192)?

Here’s something coming out of the Brickset Forums yesterday regarding the highly rumored and anticipated updated LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192). I saw it yesterday but there was plenty of San Diego Comic Con 2017 news and planning that I held off on reporting it.

If you’re familiar with the set listings on Brickset, you would sometimes see something called “Bricklist Notes” in which LEGO designers can put notes into sets they have designed to give some information about the creative process. Hans Burkhard Schlömer, who is on the LEGO Star Wars design team, has worked previous sets including the Millennium Falcon (75105) and UCS sets such as the Slave I and the Assault on Hoth (75098) has given an very interesting note on a set that was released this year. In the Republic Fighter Tank (75182) listing, Hans wrote:

Clones need a ride too! I did this set as a quick side-project while working on a much, much, much, much, much, much larger set which is going to be announced on September 1st 2017.

If you’re a Star Wars fan, you would know that September 1 is the planned date for Star Wars Force Friday II event for The Last Jedi. I’m not a rocket scientist but that sounds like a big ol’ hint for the Millennium Falcon, doesn’t it? Or it could just be that reported UCS BB-8 (75187) that is supposedly coming as well.

We’ll all see together in about one and a half months when all the new LEGO … Continue
