Blocks Magazine LEGO Star Wars Building Contest

Did you miss out on the fairly limited LEGO Star Wars Escape the Slug (6176782) exclusive set from last year? Blocks is giving you a chance to win a set as well as being featured in the magazine. All you have to do is to enter their building contest but this is not any ordinary contest. You have to recreate a scene from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, more specifically the cantina scene where Han shoots Greedo.

Blocks has some strict guidelines which you can see in the press release below. If you’re building minifigure scale, you have to own both the Han Solo and Greedo minifigures. The deadline for submissions is midnight on September 1, 2017 (GMT).

Blocks magazine offers amazing prizes in Star Wars at 40 build contest

It will probably not have escaped your attention that a little movie called Star Wars, released in 1977, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2017. Blocks will be celebrating with a very special Star Wars issue later this year, and we want our readers to get involved.

We are holding a unique competition, with not one, but two amazing prizes on offer. The overall winning entry will have the one-of-a-kind opportunity to be part of Blocks’ Star Wars at 40 special feature – your entry could be included in a huge article that the team are putting together. Additionally, the winner and two runners-up will each receive the prize of a super rare, limited edition LEGO Star Wars set – Escape the Space Slug. It

Rumored LEGO Anniversary Sets Coming in 2018

There will be lots of LEGO anniversaries coming up for 2018 including the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick and it looks like we will be getting some special anniversary sets to celebrate it. In a post over on Eurobricks, Sir von Lego has stated there are five rumored sets that could be centered around various old school LEGO themes which could include some fan favorites like Classic, Space, Castle, Pirates, and Town. They also stated that the Classic box will look like the shape of a brick. LEGO is known for releasing anniversary type sets in the past and it’ll be exciting to see what we’ll be getting next year.

LEGO Education Panama Canal (2000451) Now Available Worldwide

LEGO Education Panama Canal (2000451)

Last year, I reported on the LEGO Education Panama Canal (2000451) which was only available locally in Panama. Yesterday I’ve received an email from Juan from the marketing team at the Panama STEM website saying the set can now be purchased and shipped anywhere in the world.

It’ll still go for $249.95 but it has free Priority Mail International shipping to the US. They also ship worldwide using DHL. It’s not a bad price but if you’re a collector of these kinds of exclusive sets, it’s cheaper than what you would find on eBay.

LEGO Seasonal Thanksgiving (40261) Set Revealed

LEGO Seasonal Thanksgiving (40261)

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about one of the 2017 LEGO Seasonal sets with the last one being the Halloween (40260) set. It looks like that set is now available in some places and there is now a first look at this year’s LEGO Seasonal Thanksgiving (40261) set which comes fromt he back of the instructions.

Like with the other sets, there are small builds that make come together for a little scene including a vegetable garden with a scarecrow, a basket full of food, a cart, a tree, a brick-built turkey, and two minifigures.

Presumably, the 133 piece Thanksgiving set will be available starting in October for $9.99 at LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Legends of Tomorrow SDCC 2017 Vixen Review

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Legends of Tomorrow Vixen

On two separate days at San Diego Comic Con 2017, LEGO was giving away to attendees an exclusive LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Legends of Tomorrow Vixen. If you’re not a fan of the show, you may be wondering who this character is. There are actually two versions of the character in the Arrowverse with this one being Mari’s grandmother. Like with previous exclusive SDCC LEGO minifigures, she comes in a clamshell with a backing card.

Vixen wears a dark brown outfit with some tan armor printing. There’s also printing of the Anansi Totem necklace that goes around her neck. The legs also have some more detail printing including the knee armor. Her double-sided head piece is nouget colored with a normal expression on one side and a smirk on the other. Her hair piece is brown with a braid in the back.

The LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Legends of Tomorrow Vixen minifigure is a pretty obscure character for those who aren’t familiar with the show. This also marks the second SDCC minifigure in a row for Legends of Tomorrow joining Atom from last year. Will we continue this trend of seeing more LoT minifigures at SDCC or will we be seeing other DC properties? We shall see in less than a year. Admittedly, Vixen isn’t as popular as the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Deadpool Duck but she was popular enough for people to line up hours before the raffle started for a chance to get her.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes SDCC 2017 Deadpool Duck Review

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes SDCC 2017 Deadpool Duck

It wasn’t announced until Preview Night of San Diego Comic Con 2017 but I have managed to get the exclusive LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Deadpool Duck. He is basically what happens when Deadpool is combined with Howard the Duck which was first introduced in a five issue miniseries at the beginning of the year. The clamshell that Deadpool Duck uses is the same one as before in previous years. The backing is just a two-sided one with the back promoting LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2.

The torso is a new one with updated printing. There are now straps that go around the shoulders and around the back. There’s also some brown pouches around the waist as well. The Deadpool buckle is a little bit larger. The legs are of the short variety as he is a duck. The head gets a makeover which uses the Donald and Daisy head mold from the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Disney Series (71012). The head is now painted with the red and black Deadpool mask with one eye squinting.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes SDCC 2017 Deadpool Duck

Overall, the exclusive SDCC 2017 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Deadpool Duck is a great addition to any collection. Considering Deadpool hasn’t appeared in a set since 2013 with the Wolverine’s Chopper Showdown (6866), any variant of him is a good. Unfortunately for fans who weren’t able to attend SDCC, the only way to possibly get it is having really good friends or on the secondary market. The price of it has dropped somewhat since SDCC ended but it’s still … Continue
