LEGO Legends of Chima Water Park Now Open at LEGOLAND California

As we reported back in September of last year, LEGOLAND California was expanding and was adding a new water park based on LEGO Legends of Chima. The wait is over and the water park is now open to the public. Read the official press release as well take a full tour of the new LEGO Legends of Chima Water Park below.

Now Open!

The LEGO Legends of Chima Water Park is based on the LEGO Group’s newest hit product “Legends of Chima,” where animal tribes battle in a mystical land for control of the precious energy source called “CHI”. The Lion Temple Wave Pool is the marquee attraction in the new Water Park where guests make their way through a LEGO lion archway as Mount Cavora releases 400 gallons of water every minute into the wave pool. An animal from each of the eight animal tribes is represented on Mount Cavora and families will enjoy spending the day splashing about one of the many water features in the pool, playing with oversized soft LEGO brick and soaking in the sun.

Lion Temple Wave Pool is the centerpiece of our new Water Park where you’ll make your way through a LEGO archway and into an interactive wave pool designed for families with young children.

Cragger’s Swamp is a hands-on water play area that invites you to ride water slides, blast water cannons and jets and slide through the head of a massive crocodile. More than 50 interactive

LEGO Ideas X-Men: X-Mansion Achieves 10,000 Supporters

For the second time in a month, a project by DarthKy, in collaboration with GlenBricker, has achieved 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. Last week, their Assault on Wayne Manor became the first project to hit 10k after the change from LEGO CUUSOO to LEGO Ideas and today their X-Men: X-Mansion became the third to do so.

Like the previous project, they have gone with a modular design that folds up to show all the different rooms of the X-Mansion such as Cerebro and The Danger Room. They have also proposed a plethora of characters, many of which have not seen the light as official minifigures such as Professor Xavier, Beast, and Gambit.

The project now reaches the second Review Stage of the year and DarthKy becomes the first creator to have two of their own projects in a single Review Stage whether it was LEGO CUUSOO or LEGO Ideas. DarthKy’s two projects joins the Invisible Hand so far with the deadline in September for more to join. The LEGO Lightsabers now become the highest supported project on LEGO Ideas.

LEGO Friends 2014 Advent Calendar (41040)

LEGO Friends fans aren’t left out of the Christmas fun after seeing the 2014 LEGO Star Wars and LEGO City Advent Calendars. Spielwaren-Bludau.de has also posted the official images of the LEGO Friends 2014 Advent Calendar (41040). The set contains 228 pieces and retails for $29.99. I’m not familiar with the Friends line but it looks like this year’s calendar includes Mia and Stephanie. Check out the image below to see what you will be getting in the LEGO Friends 2014 Advent Calendar.

In addition to the LEGO Star Wars 2014 Advent Calendar (75056), Spielwaren-Bludau.de has posted the official images of the LEGO City 2014 Advent Calendar (60063) as well. Fans of this calendar are going to get fairly generic things that add to your city. You get 7 minifigures including Santa with a cookie and a brick-built snowman. This year’s City Advent Calendar isn’t as “cool” as last year’s but there are some interesting builds such as the tricycle and the snowmobile. The set consists of 218 pieces and retails for $29.99.

LEGO Ideas Invisible Hand Achieves 10,000 Supporters

For the second day in a row, there is a project on LEGO Ideas that has hit 10,000 supporters. This time it is the Invisible Hand by LDiEgo. This project is one of the oldest projects on LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas and was submitted on December 15, 2011 which shows that some projects do stand the test of time although that premise will no longer work with the new guideline that states that projects only have one year to get the required amount of supporters.

This project is a great representation of General Grievous’ flagship from the beginning of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The proposed project has 2562 pieces and measures about 92.60cm x 20.70cm x 43cm. There are also many features including removing parts of the ship to reveal the interior. There are also a number of minifigures included but will probably get reduced if it becomes an official set. Finally, there is a UCS plaque with the details of the destroyer. Check out close-up images of the project on LDiEgo’s Brickshelf.

Congratulations to LDiEgo for this accomplishment and the Invisible Hand now joins the Assault on Wayne Manor in the second review stage. The X-Men: X-Mansion now becomes the highest supported project on LEGO Ideas.

LEGO Ideas Assault on Wayne Manor Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Assault on Wayne Manor project by DarthKy is the latest project to achieve 10,000 suupporters on LEGO Ideas. This is also the first project to hit 10k after the change from LEGO CUUSOO to LEGO Ideas. In a another first, the project is the first one to reach the second Review Stage.

The Assault on Wayne Manor is a modular set filled with play features as well as a bunch of minifigures, many of which we haven’t seen as an official minifigure yet. The project is one of the largest sets to reach the Review Stage but this is also a proposal. LEGO has the rights to change it to fit their business model as they see fit. We haven’t seen a LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas set that costs more than $49.99 but this one certainly will if it passes the review. Only time will tell if we get something this big as a LEGO Ideas product in the future. This year also marks the 75th Anniversary of Batman so this is some good timing. Will this timing factor in the decision to actually producing this set? Again, only time will tell.

Congratulations to Darthky but we may be seeing this creator again since they have another project that will most likely hit 10k some time in the near future, the X-Men: X-Mansion. If that project also reaches 10k, DarthKy will then be the first creator to have two of their own projects in a single Review Stage going up against each other. The Invisible HandContinue

ThinkGeek Build-On Brick Shot Glasses Now Available

Last year, we did a review of the ThinkGeek Build-On Brick Mug which turned out to be a pretty decent mug. Continuing with the theme of brick beverage holders, ThinkGeek has released a new item to the list, the Build-On Brick Shot Glass. This novelty item goes for $19.99 and consists of a set of four 1 1/2oz. shot glasses that come in blue, yellow, white, and red. Similar to the mug, the exterior has studs that you can build on using LEGO bricks or any other brands of construction bricks. Why not have some fun at your next LEGO get-together and have some shots while building.
