LEGO Castle Forest Ambush (70400) Review

When I first heard of the possible return of LEGO Castle sets late last year, I was very excited. Since I didn’t come back to LEGO until the Kingdoms line was on their way out and didn’t have a chance to get the older Castle sets from the 80’s and 90’s. Here we have the first set of the 2013 Castle sets, the Forest Ambush (70400). The set contains 90 pieces and retails for $11.99, about $0.13/piece. The contents of the box contains two unnumbered bags, and one instruction booklet.

LEGO Legends of Chima CHI Gorzan (70202) Review

In the summer 2013 wave of the Legends of Chima sets, LEGO has released ultrabuilds of some of the main characters of the theme. As you can see, we have the CHI Gorzan (70202) ultrabuild. LEGO DC Universe Superman: Metropolis Showdown (76002) Review

With the impending release of the Man of Steel movie this month, LEGO has decided to create sets based on the movie. Here we have the LEGO DC Universe Superman: Metropolis Showdown (76002). This set has 119 pieces and retails for $12.99, a $0.11/piece ratio. It is the smallest of the three Man of Steel sets that were released. The box contains two unnumbered bags, two instruction booklets, and a couple of loose pieces. We weren’t sure why a set so small had two instruction booklets when LEGO could’ve fit it all in one booklet.

LEGO Legends of Chima Ultimate Stickers App Review

Yesterday, I was contacted by the Senior Publicist of Dorling Kindersley to see if I was interested in checking out DK’s new LEGO Legends of Chima Ultimate Stickers App for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. The app was just launched on iTunes and I had the pleasure of doing a review on it.

The app is pretty much an interactive sticker book. When you open the app, you first choose a starting area. Available areas include: The Land of Chima, Lions, Crocodiles, Eagles, Wolves, Ravens, Speedorz, The Grand Arena, and Freeplay. The Prize section is locked until you complete in game challenges. When you get to page of your choosing, you will see that there are outlines of characters and items that you have to figure out who or what they are. When you tap on the outline, you can read a hint to let you figure out what the correct sticker is. You scroll through the bottom to find the right sticker and drag them into the outline. After you get the right sticker, a fun fact pops up for each character and item. The more puzzles you finish, the more things you can unlock on the app.

Freeplay is a mode where you pick a background and you place whatever stickers of your choosing anywhere on the screen. After you finish, you can take a picture of it and it will be stored on your device’s photo section for future use.

Overall, the app is a pretty good one from DK. The graphics … Continue
