The Art Of The Brick: DC Comics Opens in Sydney, Australia

During San Diego Comic Con, Nathan Sawaya announced his latest LEGO exhibition, The Art Of The Brick: DC Comics, which opened at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia. Kotaku has a few of the 120 models that will be on display during the exhibition including the life-size 18-foot Batmobile. The Art of the Brick: DC Comics is a global tour with exhibitions at major cities around the world.

The Art of the Brick: DC Comics Batmobile Revealed

If you followed my coverage of San Diego Comic Con, you would know that there was a panel called DC Comics Meets LEGO Art which featured Nathan Sawaya as a guest. There he talked about his upcoming exhibition called The Art of the Brick: DC Comics and today Comic Book Resources has revealed the LEGO Batmobile that he has created for the exhibit. As you can see, it is a full-size Batmobile which was designed by Jim Lee at SDCC and was created with over 500,000 bricks in less than three months and is 18 foot long.

The tour for The Art of the Brick: DC Comics will open at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, Australia on November 22.

Yesterday, I received a press release for Nathan Sawaya’s next exhibition that will be revealed at San Diego Comic Con 2015 for The Art of the Brick: DC Comics. Additionally, he’ll also have a panel on Thursday, July 9 at 6pm in Room 25ABC for it called DC Comics Meets LEGO Art. The panel will also consist of Jim Lee, and our friends Brandon Griffith and Tommy Williamson. Check out the full press release below.

LEGO Batmobile To Be Featured During Sawaya’s Upcoming Global Touring Exhibition, The Art of the Brick: DC Comics

Creativity will reach Heroic heights as LEGO brick artist Nathan Sawaya unveils the first-look at select signature sculptures to be showcased in the global touring exhibition, The Art of the Brick: DC Comics. Attendees of the interactive DC COMICS MEETS LEGO ART Panel will witness the convergence of the world’s greatest Super Heroes with one of the world’s greatest toys. Acclaimed comic book artist and Co-Publisher of DC Entertainment, Jim Lee, will draw LIVE the concept for a brand new Batmobile to be built entirely out of LEGO bricks and later unveiled during the exhibition. The Electric Playground TV host, Victor Lucas will serve as moderator, with production team members, Brandon Griffith and Tommy Williamson, joining the discussion.

Warner Bros. Announces The Art of the Brick: DC Comics Exhibition Tour

A few days ago, Warner Bros. announced that they have partnered with LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya to create an exhibition of LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes characters. This travelling exhibition tour will be called The Art of the Brick: DC Comics and it will showcase his interpretations of many DC Comics characters including Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, the Flash, Wonder Woman, the Joker, the Penguin, Harley Quinn, and more. There will also be vehicles and environments on display as well. Warners Bros. Consumer Products will work with DC Entertainment along with Nathan to create the show. The Art of the Brick: DC Comics will be launching the worldwide tour this fall. Nathan notes,

“This is an amazing opportunity as an artist to be granted the privilege to bring the pages of DC Comics to life and to interpret some of the most famous and iconic characters in history. I look forward to bringing these characters to life in new ways that uniquely fir the medium.”
