LEGO Ranked Number 2 on 2018 Global CSR RepTrak 100

LEGO has been announced as the second-most highly regarded company in the world on the 2018 RepTrak 100 survey. The Reputation Institute has annually done the survey in which LEGO ranked first last year but dropped just one spot this year which shows you how much the public still likes the company in terms of emotional appeal. This year also marks the eighth year in a row that LEGO has been in the top 10 on the survey. Check out the press release below.

BILLUND – March 15, 2018: Today, Reputation Institute released the annual RepTrak®100 survey. The LEGO Group maintains its rank from last year as the second-most highly regarded company in the world when it comes to corporate reputation.

Chief Executive Officer of the LEGO Group, Niels B. Christiansen, commented on the results:

“We are very happy and humbled to maintain such high regard by the public. Toys R Us Will be Selling or Closing All US Stores

It looks like the sun will be setting for Toys R Us permanently as The Wall Street Journal has reported that the company will sell or close all of its remaining stores in the United States. The news came from CEO David Brandon in a conference call to employees and it will result in about 33,000 people losing their jobs, me included. It was been reported that Toys R Us will file for liquidation ahead of the court hearing tomorrow. I’ve read that Toys R Us Canada will not be affected but Toys R Us UK will be closing their stores as well.

I started a Toys R Us a few years ago during the holiday season and was actually pretty excited for it. It was busy and I remember working long hours but it was worth it to see kids and adults happy. That all changed recently after the company filed for bankruptcy last year. The mood shifted and everyone was on edge thinking when our last day will be. I honestly still don’t know as the conference call happened after I got off work today. I will probably hear more about it tomorrow.

Just the feeling of walking into a legit toy store is different from your other retailers like Walmart or Target whose selection isn’t as vast as Toys R Us. I’m sure you’ve felt the same way as a child and maybe as an adult as well. I’m just sad that my future children won’t experience the same thing unless another toy-centric … Continue

The LEGO Group Announcing Annual Results 2017 Tomorrow

The LEGO Group Annual Results 2017

The LEGO Group will be announcing their 2017 Annual Results tomorrow at 10:00AM CET (1:00AM PST). Last year at September, they released the financial details for the first half of 2017 and it showed that revenue was down compared to the same period in 2016. As a result, LEGO had to restructure the company which meant that they had to move some people around as well as trimming about eight percent of their workforce.

The press conference tomorrow will be revealing the numbers for last year as well as the top LEGO themes and sets. Hopefully, they’ll go into details of what contributed to the lost revenue at least in the first half of 2017. Maybe the second half of the year with the holiday shopping season helped balance everything out but we shall see. I’ll try to stay up for it but I’ll probably get knocked out because I have to work early tomorrow morning.

LEGO Launches Initiative for Sustainable LEGO Bricks and Boxes

LEGO has launched a new initiative to start producing LEGO plant elements using plant-based plastic that is created from sugarcane. There will also be LEGO boxes that will be using the same methods as well and we can expect those already for 2018. This move is part of The LEGO Group’s dedication to use sustainable materials in a majority of their products and packaging by 2030. It’ll be interesting to see how if there are any notable differences in the plant elements and how they hold up in the run.

LEGO® botanical elements such as leaves, bushes and trees will be made from plant-based plastic sourced from sugarcane in the future and will appear in LEGO boxes already in 2018.

Production has started on a range of sustainable LEGO® elements made from plant-based plastic sourced from sugarcane. The new sustainable LEGO ‘botanical’ elements will come in varieties including leaves, bushes and trees.

“At the LEGO Group we want to make a positive impact on the world around us, and are working hard to make great play products for children using sustainable materials. We are proud that the first LEGO elements made from sustainably sourced plastic are in production and will be in LEGO boxes this year. This is a great first step in our ambitious commitment of making all LEGO bricks using sustainable materials,” said Tim Brooks, Vice President, Environmental Responsibility at the LEGO Group.

The move is part of the LEGO Group’s commitment to use sustainable materials in core products and packaging by 2030.

LEGO 60th Anniversary 10 Foot Brick Mini Documentary

Last month, LEGO celebrated the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick by placing a large-scale model of the red 2×4 in the middle of New York. They’ve also released a mini documentary of how the master builders transported the brick to the Flatiron District location. The video was released last week but due to the hooplah of the 2018 New York Toy Fair, it was overlooked. It’s cool to see these kinds of videos and if you didn’t know, LEGO has a secondary channel where they post these behind the scenes stuff.
