New LEGO Minifigures Animated Stickers on Facebook

LEGO Minifigures Series 2 Facebook Stickers

If you use Facebook, earlier today LEGO has rolled out a new wave of LEGO Minifigures Stickers that you can use in your chat or messages and in comments as well. Unlike some of the previous Stickers from the first wave, all of the new ones are animated. It’s nothing really actual LEGO related but it’s something fun especially for the start of the weekend. If you haven’t yet, go follow my page on Facebook as well. I’d really appreciate it.

What is Your Grail LEGO Set?

People collect LEGO for many reasons. Most people love to build the sets, others love creating MOCs. Many of us try to collect a certain theme whether it be Star Wars or Super Heroes, there’s always something out there for someone. While collecting sets, there might be some that many would consider the “Holy Grail” of LEGO sets.

So what constitutes as a “Grail?” It pretty much can be anything that one’s heart desires. It could be a set that someone has been on their radar for a long time. An obvious example that sticks out would be the UCS Millennium Falcon (10179) from 2007. However it doesn’t have to be a rare or an expensive set. It can also mean collecting every set that has been released for a certain theme. Grails doesn’t have a set definition and can change over time as it constantly evolves to our taste and personal opinions.

Identifying what a “Grail” is gets challenging when one attempts to apply a meaning to it. It could be defined by it’s rarity, for example, popular retired sets like the Cafe Corner and the Green Grocer modulars and the before-mentioned Millennium Falcon. For some, other items like Comic Con exclusives could also be considered due to their rarity. For me, my Grail was the Death Star (10188) but that was a few years ago when I got back into the hobby and have since purchased one. My Grail has now shifted to the ever-elusive UCS Millennium Falcon but it isn’t a high priority … Continue

Stay Creative Ep3: A New Suitor For BrickLink?!

Three weeks ago, Chad Collins, the creator the LEGO Fan Convention Philly Brick Fest and touring LEGO experience Brick Fest Live, quietly launched a new web show called “Stay Creative”. The name of show, is the tagline Chad and his daughter Jordyn used in each of their videos on their YouTube channel, Your Creative Friends (YCF).

I have gotten to know Chad and his team, and have attended Philly Brick Fest each of the last two years. My blog, and YCF started around the same time, and each have had their share of success. But when Chad recently declared on his show that he wanted to buy BrickLink, it caught me off guard. His show, and new mission to buy the popular LEGO marketplace, are sure to get major attention. It seems like Chad is up for answering any question posted to social media using #AskStayCreative, and was gracious enough to answer these follow up questions from me on this topic. Here we go!

TBF: What makes you qualified to take over BrickLink?

CC: Before answering that question, it is important to recognize the late Dan Jezek, his mother Eliska (whom I briefly met two years ago at BrickWorld), for her willingness to keep BrickLink running as Dan’s legacy, and to Jay Kim for bringing stability and scalability to the ever growing popularity of the marketplace. Jay came to Philly Brick Fest in 2014, and it was great to meet him them. I am looking forward to our next conversation.

Paul Lee Creates LEGO Movie Posters for Brick Fiesta 2015 Attendees

Back to the Future

Brick Fiesta 2015 started a few days ago and one of the perks for registering as an AFOL is some of the cool swag you get. Artist Paul Lee has created some very cool classic movie posters as LEGO sticker versions that can fit into the LEGO Creator Palace Cinema (10232)icon. These posters include Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Blade Runner, Jaws, Amélie, and Jurassic World.

Different LEGO conventions have different swag given out sometimes and most of the time, you never know what you’re going to get. If you haven’t been to a convention as a registered attendee, you should make the effort to go to at least one so see all the fun stuff that you normally wouldn’t see on public days. Check out all of Paul’s other posters below.

2015 Third Quarter LEGO Store Build-A-Minifigure Bar Elements

LEGO Store Build-A-Minifigure 3rd Quarter 2015

At the beginning of July, LEGO Stores changed out their Build-A-Minifigure bar and there are now some new elements for you to choose from. I picked out every single part of each element I could find at the station so some of the parts might be leftovers from last quarter.

For the torsos above, the most notable ones I found was the Kingdoms lion torso and the Monster Fighters jacket.

For the legs, there isn’t much that stand out. There is the Curtis Bolt Ultra Agents black legs with the blue screen that could be useful for some sci-fi characters. The blue jeans are good for any general use. Finally the white spaceman ones are also available.

For the head accessories, I’m not sure which ones are for this quarter because I forgot to document which ones were for last quarter so here’s everything I could find from my store. The selection at your store may vary but there should be some of these in all locations. As you can see, there’s a nice variety to choose from.

For the heads, again I apologize for not being sure which ones are from this quarter’s change out since my store was out of the new heads last quarter. However what I found in this selection are some pretty cool ones like the ghost head from Lord of the Rings and a couple of the female Ultra Agents ones.

Lastly for the accessoreis, some of the new ones include the the trans-pink mug, a bat, a toolbox, … Continue

Anaheim Ducks Frederik Andersen Wearing a New LEGO Goalie Mask Next Season

Lego DuckMan - The Dark Duck

A few months ago, I featured Anaheim Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen and his LEGO goalie mask that he wore during last season in the NHL. For this upcoming season, he will be wearing another LEGO inspired mask to pay tribute to his homeland of Denmark. He has commissioned DaveArt artist David Gunnarsson to create a mask featuring LEGO Batman wearing the Ducks jersey. Even the Ducks logo is seen wearing Batman’s cowl. It looks like we can look forward to seeing Andersen wearing different LEGO masks every season.

Official LEGO San Diego Comic Con 2015 Schedule

LEGO SDCC 2015 Schedule

Earlier today, LEGO tweeted out their official schedule for San Diego Comic Con 2015 including details for the retail exclusives as well as the the exclusive minifigure drawings including the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes All New Captain America (Sam Wilson) and LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Arsenal.

They have also listed out the schedule for their product reveals during the convention. On Thursday, July 9th, LEGO will be revealing the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Batmobile. On Friday, they’ll be revealing a LEGO Ninjago set. I’m guessing it’ll be the direct-to-consumer Ninjago Temple (70751). Finally, for their big finale on Saturday, July 11th, there will be a LEGO Star Wars reveal. We already know that the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Buildable Battle Figures Stormtrooper will be shown off there but hopefully there will be more sets displayed as well.
