BricksLA LEGO Fan Convention Opening in Southern California in May

There will finally be a LEGO fan convention in Southern California this year with an event called BricksLA which was advertised a little this past weekend at Star Wars Days. BricksLA is a LEGO convention that features MOCs, vendors, and activities, pretty much what you see at other LEGO conventions across the US. The unique thing about it is that there’s finally an event that’s closer to home and another one on the west cost in addition to Bricks by the Bay and Brickcon but without the long drive/flight up.

There isn’t much information at this time but what we do know is that it will be held at the Pasadena Convention Center on May 16 & 17. Admission costs are $5 and kids under 12 get in free. There’s will be more info once we get closer to May including AFOL registration.

LEGO Idea House Tour by Michael Bradford

A few days ago, we wrote about fellow reader Michael Bradford’s trip to Billund, Denmark and the LEGO Factory Tour. During the same trip, Michael also visited the LEGO Idea House which is pretty much a historical exhibition of The LEGO Group. The building is mostly for employees and business relations however, Michael was allowed to visit and has shot a video of the LEGO Idea House and giving us a sneak peek into something that the public rarely has a chance to see. Check out the video as it takes you on the tour of the museum as if you were there in person.

LEGO Factory Tour 2015 by Michael Bradford

Untitled

During last week’s LEGO press conference for the 2014 Annual Results, fellow reader Michael Bradford, who has provided the Collectible Minifigures Compendiums, was lucky enough to attend the event. At the same time, he also took a tour of the LEGO factory in Billund, Denmark and has given an exclusive look on how our favorite bricks were made. Usually filming on the factory floor isn’t allowed but Michael had access to and has given us a look on how LEGO creates the bricks. You can also read more about Michael’s trip in his post.

As someone who has worked in a plastics factory before, it does give a nostalgic feeling of seeing all the molds and raw ABS materials. If you haven’t seen the National Geographic’s Mega Factories about LEGO, you can check that out too.
