Beautiful LEGO: Wild! Book Review

Beautiful LEGO: Wild!

In my next book review, I have Mike Doyle’s latest addition to his Beautiful LEGO series with Beautiful LEGO: Wild!. The book has 232 pages and retails for $24.95 and is scheduled to be released on September 25th. This book includes the latest curated collection of LEGO art showcasing work by artists in the LEGO community. If you remember, there was a call for entries back in February and people submitted their creations in hopes they would be chosen to be included in the book.

The cover of Beautiful LEGO: Wild! is made of the thicker cardboard that we’re used to by now and mainly features the Rainbow Lorikeet bt Gabriel Thomson. The back also has some smaller images highlighting some more builds that you can expect to see in the book. The inside flap gives a synopsis of what the book is about.

LEGO Star Wars Small Scenes from a Big Galaxy by Vesa Lehtimäki (Avanaut)

LEGO Star Wars Small Scenes from a Big Galaxy

Back in March, I reported on a few upcoming LEGO DK books that will be released late this year. One of these books by Finnish LEGO photographer Vesa Lehtimäki, aka Avanaut, was tentatively called LEGO Star Wars: Through a Lens but the finalized title of the book is called LEGO Star Wars: Small Scenes from a Big Galaxy. It’ll retail for $24.99 and has 176 pages and will be released on November 10.

If you’re into LEGO photography, you’ve probably heard of Avanaut’s work as it has also been used in the LEGO The Hobbit set promotions. I think LEGO Star Wars Small Scenes from a Big Galaxy will make a very nice coffee table book as it can show off what a person with a camera and LEGO can do with some imagination. Obviously, Avanaut is just a one person in the popular LEGO photography community and this book may be a stepping stone to introduce more people into the hobby.

LEGO® Star Wars® sets and minifigures come to life in this beautiful photography book.

Created by Finnish photographer Vesa Lehtimäki using his son’s favorite toys, the book features painstaking recreations of classic movie moments and hilarious new takes on fan-favorite characters and themes. Informative captions give technical details for each scene, while anecdotes from Lehtimäki offer background insights to his creative process.

LEGO Star Wars Small Scenes from a Big Galaxy is a breathtaking new look at a timeless icon that allows fans to see their favorite minifigures from the classic saga

The LEGO Architect

Explore the world of architecture through LEGO

San Francisco, CA (July 14, 2015) — It’s one of life’s certainties: when you give curious kids LEGO bricks, they’ll build little LEGO houses.
But talented LEGO artists from around the world have taken the art of house building to new heights, and the results are sensational. The LEGO Architect (No Starch Press, $24.95, 192 pp., September 2015), a new coffee-table book from San Francisco-based No Starch Press, showcases art deco skyscrapers, neoclassical federal buildings, postmodern office complexes, and sleek modern homes—all built with thousands of plastic LEGO bricks by a community of remarkably patient and visionary artists.

According to Tom Alphin, author of The LEGO Architect, “The official LEGO Architecture sets are bestsellers because they allow people to experience architecture hands-on, by recreating famous buildings. My book runs with this idea, but with the broader goal of exploring many influential architectural styles.”

In The LEGO Architect, readers learn about the history of seven unique architectural styles and follow step-by-step instructions to build twelve LEGO models.
