The past month, we’ve been running a contest to give away the LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (21108). The contest is finally over and we had a whopping total of 10355 entries. We used the randomizer to choose the winner on the Gleam app and the winner is:

I’ve already messaged William with the email provided and he has until the end of the day Monday, August 11 to contact me with the shipping details or I’ll have to choose another winner.

Finally, thank you to everyone who entered the contest and don’t worry if you didn’t win. We’ll still have a lot more contests going in the future so there’s still more chances to win. Make sure you “like” our Facebook Page and/or subscribed to our feed to know when our next contest will be running. I really do appreciate everyone who reads the site.

Update: William has replied to the email and has claimed the prize.

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) Available on Amazon

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109)

If you weren’t able to buy the LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) on Shop@Home, you’ll be glad to know that Amazon has it available for $34.95. It does, however, require an additional 1-2 days to process but at least you’ll be able to purchase it and it is eligible for Amazon Prime.

On the same note, The Brothers Brick has reported that the Exo Suit is not on a limited run. Andrew had a conference call with the people at LEGO in Enfield and Billund and was reassured that the single production run rumor is false so there you have it. There will be more sets coming out in the future but that may take a little while longer. In the meantime, click on that Amazon link up top to get the set from Amazon. You’ll be helping our site as well as getting the set for yourself so it’s a win-win.

Update: And just like that, the offer is over. We’ll keep you updated if it’s available again.

LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters HQ Achieves 10,000 Supporters

Back in March, we featured Sergio Herencias’ LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters MOC and since then, he has listed the project on LEGO Ideas. Building it from inspiration by Brent Waller’s instructions, Sergio’s version of the Firehouse is a hybrid between the headquarters from the original Ghostbusters movie and Ghostbusters II. The build consists of around 2,800 pieces and took him about 20 hours to create.

The Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters now heads to the second Review Stage and joins the Assault on Wayne Manor, Invisible Hand, X-Men: X-Mansion, LEGO Lightsabers, UCS All Terrain Armoured Transport, and WALL•E as the projects currently slated to be reviewed by LEGO to become an official set. The deadline for the second review deadline is 12:00AM GMT September 1st so there’s still a chance that a few more projects to join the fray. Congratulations again to Sergio for this achievement.

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit and Research Institute Availability

LEGO Ideas Research Institute (21110)

Not even a week after the newest LEGO Ideas sets were released, the inventory on the Exo Suit (21109) and the Research Institute (21110) have run dry. Not even a day after the release of the Exo-Suit, the amount that you could buy was changed from 2 to 1 and it went on backorder with it shipping in 30 days. The status of it has since been changed to “Temporary out of stock.”

If you followed my Facebook Page, you would’ve seen that the Exo Suit was flying off the shelves and the inventory they had were already gone by the end of the day. The rumor that the set would only have a single production run probably fueled the demand of the set even more on top of the already immense popularity of it. If you ordered it online, it’s a wait and see situation if you’ll be getting yours or not. I’ve had people comment saying that the set showed up at their house without a shipping confirmation email so there’s a chance that your order may have went through.

For the Research Institute, it is now listed as “Sold Out” on Shop@Home. If you wanted to pick up this set, it is probably too late now unless you can find them at your LEGO Store. I know mine (Fashion Valley, San Diego) will have some more coming in on Friday but I expect them to be sold very quickly. Unlike the Exo Suit, it was available for purchase a lot longer than … Continue

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) Review

There have been a lot of very cool LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas sets that have been available the last few years. One thing that the new Exo Suit (21109) does not have in common with all the other sets is that it is an original idea and not based on an intellectual property. The newest LEGO Ideas set is the brainchild of Peter Reid and has been highly anticipated since it hit 10,000 supporters last year on LEGO CUUSOO.

When it became available a few days ago, I made sure that I was at my local LEGO Store early to be sure that I would be guaranteed to get one. The set has 321 pieces and retails for $34.99 for a $0.11/piece ratio. The box contains four small unnumbered bags, a loose flex hose and 8×8 grid plate, and the instruction booklet.

Box

While the design phase was happening for the set, Peter assembled a team of AFOLs to discuss how the Exo Suit would be packaged and marketed. What they and LEGO came up with for the box is a work of art in itself. When you look at it, you get somewhat of a nostalgic feel of the Classic Space box art. At the bottom right corner, you are reminded that the Exo Suit is set #007 in the CUUSOO/Ideas line. The back of the box shows an action shot of the Exo Suit with the yellow barrels.

The instructions booklet comes in a matte-like paper which is a little different than the kind of … Continue

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) and Research Institute (21110) Now Available

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109)

The time is now here and the new LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) is now available on Shop@Home. It probably won’t sell out on the first day but LEGO Designer Mark Stafford has hinted that the set is currently a single production run so don’t wait on getting it if you plan to.

LEGO Ideas Research Institute (21110)

The LEGO Ideas Research Institute (21110), which is somewhat overshadowed by the popularity of the Exo Suit is also now available on Shop@Home.

Remember that there are a few promos that LEGO will be having in August including the free LEGO Creator MINI Cooper Mini Model Polybag (40109) with purchases of $99 or more. If the LEGO Ideas sets last until August 25th, you can also get the free LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike Polybag (30265) with purchases of $50 or more. Check out all the other things that is going on for August on the LEGO Store Calendar.

Update: The Exo Suit is already out of stock on Shop@Home and it will ship in 30 days. It was also listed on Target’s website but it’s also sold out. Finally, Toys R US has it listed sold in stores for $24.99 but YMMV.

LEGO Ideas Wall•E Achieves 10,000 Supporters

It’s been a while that we last reported on a project reaching 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas but the Wall•E project by Angus MacLane is the latest one to reach that milestone. Angus is an animator who worked on the movie and took him about 3 years to build the LEGO version of Wall•E while he was also working on the movie.

It is a very accurate representation of WALL•E and it makes a cute little set for you to play with or display if it does go into production. The project now gets moved on to the Review Stage where it will go against other worthy projects including the Assault on Wayne Manor, Invisible Hand, X-Men: X-Mansion, and LEGO Lightsabers. Congratulations to Angus for this achievement.
