LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Automotive ReBrick Building Contest

ReBrick has a new LEGO building contest going to celebrate the future of McLaren Automotive. All you have to do is to build what you think the next McLaren supercar should look like. One lucky winner will be able to join the McLaren Automotive team for a day at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed and have their build displayed as well as winning some swag such as the whole line of LEGO Speed Champions sets signed by the designers. You can read the official rules and entry guidelines for the contest here. The contest ends on June 1, 2015, 2:59 pm CEST. Thanks to everyone who emailed in about it the last few nights.

LEGO Speed Champions Mech MOC

A couple of days ago, I came across this cool MOC by Geng Lei loosely translated as Flying Tigers. This MOC consists of a couple of the new LEGO Speed Championsicon sets as well as from the LEGO City Monster Truck Transporter (60027).

The MOC gives off a Voltron Vehicle Force look to it combined with a Transformers feel. The skeleton of the mech is created from some LEGO Hero Factory parts while the exoskeleton is created with the various vehicles including the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder, and two Porsche 911s.

As a fan of both Voltron/Transformers and the LEGO Speed Champions theme, this MOC to me is very well done and it gives off that coolness factor.

Update: Chris has informed me that the MOC looks more like Menasor which is pretty true.

LEGO Speed Champions Minisite Updated Plus Videos

LEGO has finally updated the LEGO Speed Champions minisite in anticipation of the sets being officially released on March 1st. There are now product descriptions for each of the seven sets in the wave. There is also a Videos page but nothing is on it as of this writing. However, there are some YouTube videos which we’ve embedded below for you to enjoy. Finally, there’s a Games page as well but that page is broken as well.

We’ve already reviewed one of the LEGO Speed Champions sets with the McLaren Mercedes Pit Stop (75911) and we’ll be reviewing the rest of the sets in the wave as soon as they are available. There are reports that the sets have started showing up at Toys R Us so you can probably find them there ahead of the official release date.
