LEGOLAND California Hotel Opens Today

Today, the LEGOLAND California resort officially opens their brand new LEGOLAND Hotel right next to the LEGOLAND Park in Carlsbad, CA. Construction of the first LEGOLAND Hotel in the nation began in December 2011 and now is finally completed. There are 250 guest rooms spread out on three stories that are themed. Guest can choose to stay in one of three different themes: Pirate, Kingdom, or Adventure. You can also choose a Premium Themed room which include some extra theming and features in the room as well as an extra LEGO gift for each child inside the treasure chest.

All guest rooms include separate sleeping areas for adults and kids. Adults will have a queen-sized bed while the children get to have a bunk bed and a pull out trundle bed. All the guest rooms will have high definition televisions but who needs that when you have all the LEGO entertainment inside the room such as the bucket filled with LEGO bricks to build things with. There will be some nice goodies for guests such as an in-room treasure hunt for LEGO gifts. As an added bonus for staying at the hotel, guests can get early entry to select LEGOLAND rides and attractions even before the park opens. You can read more about the special features here. Reservations for the LEGOLAND Hotel are now open and rates begin as low as $149 per night.

I, for one, am very excited for the opening of the new LEGOLAND Hotel and hopefully I’ll get to stay there … Continue

LEGO Harlem Shake Videos

I’m a little late to this but the Harlem Shake dance has already hit viral levels and everyone and everything has joined the party. SpastikChuwawa has created a stop-motion video of the LEGO Avengers Super Heroes doing the dance with Iron Man taking the lead. To Hawkeye, you just be Hawkeye. Nicely made video, SpastikChuwawa.

In another video, the employees of LEGOLAND California has also done the Harlem Shake in Miniland USA. It’s nice to see the employees take a little time off to have a little (more) fun.

LEGOLAND California Star Wars Days Videos

These are some videos that I took at LEGOLAND California during Star Wars Days held from March 31 – April 1. It is to mark the new expansion of the Star Wars Miniland. I’ve also provided what the plaques say for each model build.

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace – Naboo

The epic Battle of Naboo pits Gungan forces against the Trade Federation’s battle droids for control of the planet and its capital city, Theed, The Royal Palace, home to Queen Amidala, is constructed of more than 15,000 LEGO bricks. In the Theed hanger bay, young Anakin Skywalker saves the day by flying his Naboo starfighter to victory while Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn battle the Sith apprentice, Darth Maul.

LEGOLAND California Star Wars Days

On April 1, I went back to LEGOLAND California for the first time in about seven years or so. Why did I decide to go? Because of Star Wars Days! This year, Star Wars Days happened on March 31 – April 1, a little earlier than before. Usually the event happens later on the in year. I was excited to go because I’ve never been to Star Wars Days and I wanted to experience it first-hand.

LEGOLAND California Star Wars Miniland Expansion and Star Wars Days

On March 29, 2012, LEGOLAND California is set for the highly anticipated LEGO Star Wars Miniland expansion. There will be scenes built in 1:20 scale from 1.5 million bricks for all six Star Wars movies as well as the Clone Wars animated series.

One of the new models that will be displayed is the Opee Sea Killer. The video below shows Gary McIntire, the Master Model Builder at LEGOLAND California setting up the model for the new expansion.

Another model that was created for the expansion is the Sandcrawler which is for Episode IV where the Jawas are selling the droids. Also seen in this video are 3 foot tall minifigures of Luke Skywalker, Wicket, Boba Fett, Princess Leia, Anakin Skywalker, and Darth Maul just to name a few.

Star Wars Days

Starting March 31-April 1, 2012, Star Wars Days will be held at LEGOLAND California. There will be many activities there from character appearances to LEGO Star Wars Building Competitions and a costume contest as well. Click on the banner below to see the full Star Wars Days schedule at LEGOLAND California’s website.

I’m hoping to be there on March 31 and our friends at From Bricks To Bothans will be there as well. I’m looking forward to taking a lot of pictures and will be posting them to my Flickr as soon as I get back. It’ll be my first Star Wars Days so I’m definitely excited. Hope to see you there!
