LEGO Star Wars TC-4 Confirmed as Star Wars Day Volunteer Giveaway

LEGO Star Wars TC-4 Polybag

FBTB has confirmed that the exclusive minifigure for volunteering and displaying a MOC at this week’s Star Wars Days at LEGOLAND California will indeed be the TC-4 minifigure polybag. This particular minifigure has been rumored to been this year’s LEGO May the 4th promotional giveaway but there’s been no confirmation on that yet.

Star Wars Days features many activities such as the 501st & Rebel Legion Droid Hunt and the Miniland Scavenger Hunt. Also be sure to check out all the MOCs that will be displayed at the Fan Gallery on the Model Shop roof. There’s a very slim chance that I may be there this year but I have to see.

The LEGO Movie Experience Opens at LEGOLAND California Resort

The Lego Movie Experience at LLCA

The new The LEGO Movie Experience is now open to the public at LEGOLAND California Resort. The Experience features a behind-the-scenes look at the real movie set seen in the film. You get to see the “basement” area that was shown in The LEGO Movie which shows the many different worlds of the movie including Bricksburg, The Old West, Cloud Cuckoo Land, the Octan Tower, and Middle Zealand just to name a few. The whole set took a team of 10 LEGO Master Builders 5 weeks to design the models and 2,000 hours to build the whole thing. Below are some other interesting facts about The LEGO Movie set:

1,200: Models on the set (two or more pieces stuck together)

3,863,484: Number of LEGO bricks used to create the set

15,080,330: Total LEGO pieces seen in the entire movie. If you were to build the entire film with LEGO, this is how many bricks you’d need.

116: Number of buildings made from LEGO.

165: Number of vehicles

15: Number of spaceships

1,423: Number of minifigures

The whole experience doesn’t stop there. There are also models displayed at the LEGOLAND Hotel as well. The model of the logo took about 4 Master Builders around 220 hours to complete. It is 8 feet long, 2.5 feet high, and 2.5 feet deep and weighs about 1,200 pounds. Check out the video below for a preview of The LEGO Movie set before you go and see the real thing. Jadon Sand, who plays Finn in the movie, will be there … Continue

The LEGO Movie Display at LEGOLAND California

A fellow reader of the site and contact, let’s call him “Bob,” has sent me some images of some brand new The LEGO Movie models that are currently displayed at the LEGOLAND California Hotel for guests to see. The various scenes were created by the LEGO builders at the park and were based off screenshots and concept art from Warner Bros. Check out all the different scenes in the movie that is in the model. The LEGO Movie Event At LEGOLAND California Resort

There are some big things happening at LEGOLAND California Resort at the end of January and into February. An anonymous reader has sent me some unannounced information on what will be going on at the park. Since The LEGO Movie will be released the first week of February, the staff at LEGOLAND has been working hard to get the park ready for its premiere next month.

First, the park will have a big event at the end of this month to promote the movie and will have several of the cast members attending as VIP guests including Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Channing Tatum, and more. They are also rumored to be back again for the premiere.

Secondly, the Playtown Theater is currently under renovations and will be changed to become a walkthrough attraction that will feature special figures, models, and more from The LEGO Movie.

The LEGOLAND California Hotel has been booked by Warner Brothers for executives and their families for them to stay and enjoy the festivities at the park.

Finally, the LEGOLAND Wardrobe department has constructed a costume character of Emmet and he will be making appearances at the park and taking pictures with visitors following the movie’s release and maybe even before then.

There are no dates at this time but we’ll be getting more information in the near future and we’ll be updating as soon as we get them. It looks like a very exciting time at LEGOLAND California and I look forward to visiting in the near future!

LEGOLAND California Water Park Expansion in 2014

Today, LEGOLAND California announced a major expansion for the Water Park that is set to open Summer 2014. The 2.5 acre expansion will cost about $12 million and will be featuring attractions from the LEGO Legends of Chima theme. This expansion follows the footsteps of LEGOLAND’s sister park in Florida where they opened The World of Chima back in July. The cost of admission to the new area will be included with the admission to the LEGOLAND Water Park. The new expansion will be located in the north-east area of park next to the Pirate Reef attraction. Four of the eight new areas of the expansion were revealed today as well by park officials.

The “Lion Temple Wave Pool” will be the centerpiece of the expansion and will have a 30 foot Mount Kavora where water will cascade down. It it also show various characters from each of the tribes.

“Cragger’s Swamp” is a play area where it lets kids blast water cannons and ride water slides right into the head of a large crocodile.

On “Eglor’s Build-A-Boat, kids can build a boat much like the current Build-A-Raft attraction and race against other kids while dodging obstacles.

The “Wolves’ Cantina” is a food service area that will show off things from the Wolf tribe.

If you remember back in April, LEGOLAND California Hotel opened and rooms were quickly filled up. Officials are hoping that the new Legends of Chima Water Part will attract customers who want to say at the park for more than a … Continue

Star Wars Days Weekend Exclusive Minifigure Revealed

FBTB has posted an image of the exclusive minifigure that will be available away this weekend at Star Wars Days at LEGOLAND California. The Clone Trooper Lieutenant will be given out to volunteers from SanDLUG and LUGOLA that help out on Saturday and Sunday. Ace has also mentioned that you might be able to get one from the Big Shop if you spend a certain amount there. Children might also be able to get the Trooper from the 501st Droid Hunt game that will be going on during the weekend.

I might be going to LEGOLAND this weekend to experience Star Wars Days once again but will not be able to volunteer with the local LUGs which saddens me. The life-sized X-wing Starfighter that was revealed at New York a couple of weeks ago will also be displayed there which I’m excited to see.
