LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & 2 (75828) Review

LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & 2 (75828)

When the LEGO officially announced the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & 2 (75828) set, there was very mixed reactions to it, much like to the trailer when it came out, although it was towards the positive side more unlike for the trailer itself.

For me personally when I saw the details of the new Ecto-1, I actually liked it because of some of the details and features it has which I’ll get to later on. The Ecto-1 & 2 contains 556 pieces and retails for $59.99 which actually isn’t too bad for a licensed set. The contents of the box includes four numbered bags, one instruction booklet, and a small sticker sheet.

LEGO Birthday Buddy (40226) Set Found

LEGO Birthday Buddy (40226)

Some new instructions have been uploaded to LEGO’s servers today and one of the new ones includes a set we haven’t heard about yet, the Birthday Buddy (40226). It looks somewhat like a chocolate birthday cupcake with a candle on top of the head.

There are no details about it like price point or availability but I’m going to guess it’ll be priced at $9.99. I assume we’ll start seeing this set first at LEGOLAND parks as these type of sets usually show up there first and eventually at LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home later on.

Thanks to Julio for the email heads up.

LEGO Minifigures Entering Jupiter’s Orbit Tomorrow

Tomorrow night, the NASA Juno spacecraft will finally be entering Jupiter’s orbit after a five year journey. Onboard the Juno are some LEGO minifigures that were created as part of a partnership between NASA and The LEGO Group to inspire children to pursue science and engineering.

The minifigures are made out of a special space-grade aluminum and they represent some important mythological and science figures which includes the Roman god Jupiter, his wife Juno, and Galileo Galilei. Jupiter is holding a lightning bolt as he is the god of the sky and thunder. Juno holds a magnifying glass to signify her search for the truth. Galileo holds a miniature planet of Jupiter as well as a telescope.

The LEGO minifigures will not be returning to Earth as they will be intentionally dropped into Jupiter’s atmosphere after the Juno probe orbits the planet for a year.

LEGO Bionicle Toys R Us Promotion

Toys R Us is having a new promotion this month where you can get a free LEGO Bionicle set with purchases of $40 or more. You can choose between Skull Warrior (70791), Skull Slicer (70792), or Skull Basher (70793). This promo is obviously to move out older inventory to make way for the summer 2016 sets but it’s nice to get a fairly larger set instead of polybags. The promo is available in stores and online and it lasts until July 23.
