LEGO BIONICLE is Returning in 2015

LEGO BIOINICLE

LEGO has finally revealed what their big announcement was and it is indeed LEGO BIONICLE will be back in 2015. They’ve posted a video of the Mask of Creation which we already reported on last week so it wasn’t really a big secret considering LEGO accidentally spoiled it earlier this week.

LEGO BIONICLE makes their triumphant return after it was originally discountinued back in 2010 and being replaced by LEGO Hero Factory. BIONICLE was a very popular theme and was one of the themes that brought LEGO back from near bankruptcy (Brick by Brick: How LEGO Rewrote the Rules of Innovation and Conquered the Global Toy Industry).

There’s no doubt that many fans are happy are that this theme is returning next year. BZPower is also reporting that LEGO will be revealing the information about the sets at New York Comic Con on October 9th as well as on social media so stay tuned for that. We already know the set names so they’ll probably reveal some of them at NYCC.

LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz Bike (30265)

I’ve been informed that the LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike (30265) polybag is now available at Target stores in the checkout aisle areas. This the same polybag that LEGO is giving out with purchases with $50 or more on Shop@Home, which has been extended to probably until the end of the month. There was no pricing given but I assume it is $3.99 each. Thanks to everyone who emailed in about the polybag.

The LEGO Neighborhood Book Review

We’ve recently received a new book to review from No Starch Press called The LEGO Neighborhood Book: Build Your Own Town! by Brian and Jason Lyles. Brian runs Brick City Depot where he publishes instructions for LEGO modular buildings and if it sounds familiar, you’ve probably seen an ad to their site on our right sidebar beneath the categories.

No Starch Press is known for their AFOL-centric books such as LEGO Space: Building the Future and The Art of LEGO Design which we’ve also reviewed before. The LEGO Neighborhood Book is geared towards people who build LEGO cities with modular buildings. It contains 204 pages and retails for $19.95 but you can get it cheaper at various retailers like Amazon. The book has a high quality softback cover and the images in the book are very nice which is what we’ve come to expect from No Starch.

Since the highly popular LEGO Modular buildings were released back in 2007 with the Cafe Corner (10182) which have continued with eight more Modular sets, LEGO fans have been creating their own MOCs of the buildings to grow their city The LEGO Neighborhood Book is basically split into two halves. The first half of the book contains six chapters and it takes a look at some of the foundations of what a modular building consists of.

The first chapter gives you an introduction to the standards of a modular building like the base size and the depth and height. This is what the authors call the “Cafe Corner” … Continue
