I’m a little late to this but the Harlem Shake dance has already hit viral levels and everyone and everything has joined the party. SpastikChuwawa has created a stop-motion video of the LEGO Avengers Super Heroes doing the dance with Iron Man taking the lead. To Hawkeye, you just be Hawkeye. Nicely made video, SpastikChuwawa.

In another video, the employees of LEGOLAND California has also done the Harlem Shake in Miniland USA. It’s nice to see the employees take a little time off to have a little (more) fun.

LEGO Star Wars Planets Series 3 TIE Bomber & Asteroid Field (75008) Review

For the final LEGO Star Wars Series 3 Planet set, YourCreativeFriends has reviewed the TIE Bomber & Asteroid Field (75008). This small build contains 60 pieces and retails for $9.99. The minifigure that is included in the set is the TIE Pilot. I’m not sure why an asteroid field would be called a “planet” unless it was a destroyed Alderaan. Since Alderaan will be in a Series 4 set, maybe this set could be the remnants of the planet. Anyways, take a look at YCF’s video below for more details of the set.

This particular set contains 74 pieces and retails for $9.99. The minifigure that is included in the set is a redesigned Phase I Clone Trooper. LEGO Star Wars UCS Red Five X-wing Starfighter (10240) on Shop@Home

The newly announced LEGO Star Wars UCS Red Five X-wing Starfighter (10240) is now listed on LEGO Shop@Home. It is priced at $199.99 and is expected to be released on Star Wars Day, May 4th (May the 4th be with you). Last year, LEGO had some deals going on for two days including a free exclusive TC-14 minifigure, free poster, and free shipping. Our buddies over at YourCreativeFriends has recently picked up a couple of the new LEGO Star Wars Series 3 Planet sets. Here they are reviewing the Jedi Starfighter & Kamino (75006). The set has 61 pieces and it retails for $9.99 at the LEGO store where they’ve found these sets. LEGO CUUSOO Interview With Team BTTF

LEGO CUUSOO has recently interviewed Team BTTF to learn more about the creators of the LEGO DeLorean Time Machine, Masashi Togami and Sakuretsu. As you may have already know, the DeLorean was the set chosen by CUUSOO in the Summer Review to be the next set that will be produced by LEGO. Also, the 1% royalties that Masashi gets from the sale of the sets will all be donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, which is pretty awesome in it’s own right.

The purpose of Team BTTF was to reintroduce the movies to a newer generation of fans using LEGO. Each member of the team had different roles with Masashi taking the lead with product concepts and the press relations. Sakuretsu handles the model building and the custom minifigures. Legohaulic was also involved in building the UCS Time Machine.

The interview was very insightful on how the concept of the DeLorean as a LEGO set came from a sketch to becoming a reality. Read the whole interview on the LEGO CUUSOO blog here.

LEGO Had Strong Continued Growth in 2012

Today, The LEGO Group released their annual report for 2012 and it was another successful year for the toy company. With the launch of the 2013 Toy of the Year Friends theme combined with the continued successful themes such as City, Star Wars, and Ninjago, LEGO increased their revenue by a staggering 25% to GBP 2,549 million. This amount almost triples the sales from 5 years ago in 2007 and is the fifth year in a row that the LEGO Group had a revenue growth over 15%.

Key facts from the LEGO Group’s annual report for 2012, which was published today:

• The year’s operating profit increased to GBP 866 million against GBP 660 million in 2011, an increase of 40%.
• The operating margin increased to 34% from 30% in 2011.
• The year’s net profit increased to GBP 611 million against GBP 484 million in 2011.
• The revenue increased by 25% to GBP 2,549 million against GBP 2,181 million in 2011. In local currency (i.e. excluding the impact of foreign exchange changes) revenue increased 20% year over year.
• The net cash generated from operating activities was GBP 680 million against GBP 430 million in 2011.
• In 2012 the Group paid GBP 208 million in corporate income taxes.
The LEGO Group reporting currency is DKK. Conversion from DKK to GBP is based on an annual average currency rate (however conversion of net cash generated from operating activities is based on year-end currency rate) in 2012 and 2011 respectively.
