The Brick Fan Top 10 Viewed Posts of 2019

We’re closing in on the end of 2019 and let’s take a look at some of the most popular LEGO posts this year on The Brick Fan. As of today, there were 896 posts so far this year and here are the top 10 viewed posts according to Google Analytics. LEGO Store calendar posts are usually popular here but they take up a majority of the spots so I will be adding them to the list.

Top 10 LEGO 2019 Sets

The year is almost coming to an end and I guess this is a good time to list my top 10 LEGO sets for 2019. According to Brickset, there were 785 LEGO products released this year but I’ll only be choosing ten as my favorites. Believe me, there were a lot of good sets that were released so it’s really hard choosing just a tiny fraction of them. Like usual, I’ll be using a number of criteria to rank them.

Rumored LEGO Double VIP Points Event This Weekend

I have some good intel that we will be getting another Double VIP Points event this weekend at LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home. It is not listed on the December 2019 Store Calendar but it will run alongside some other promotions including the LEGO Creator Mini Gingerbread House (40337) and the LEGO Star Wars 20th Anniversary Obi-Wan Kenobi (30624) minifigure. This will most likely be the last Double VIP Points event for this year so it’s a pretty good time to get the last of your holiday shopping in.

Rumored LEGO Masters Bag Promotion in Mid-December

For those who aren’t keen on LEGO switching out plastic bags to paper bags next year, there’s a rumor that there will be a new promotion happening possibly mid-month that could sway your opinion. I’ve been told that there will be a LEGO Masters bag free with any purchase and it’s possible that it might be a reusable one. Obviously LEGO will definitely try to promote the show before the series airs in February. Take this as a rumor for now because LEGO has been doing promotions that aren’t listed on the store calendars.

LEGO 2019 Employee Gift Revealed

LEGO employees have started getting their 2019 Christmas gift and this year’s gift is pretty cool if you’re a fan of a particular theme. Vice president of design, Matthew Ashton, has shared an image on Twitter of what employees will be receiving this year. Obviously there are some, including LEGO Brand Store employees, who probably haven’t gotten theirs yet so I won’t totally spoil it. I’ve included the image below but it is hidden until you decide to reveal it. It’s a pretty cool item that any employee would be glad to receive whether it be for their collection or for some extra cash for the holidays.

LEGO to Phase Out Plastic Retail Bags and Switching to Paper Bags

LEGO has been doing various initiatives to help the environment and to use sustainable materials by the end of the next decade. They have recently announced that the company will be phasing out plastic retail bags in 2020. The plastic bags used at LEGO Brand and Certified Stores will be replaced by sustainably sourced paper bags. Some stores may have already been doing this for months now but their plan is for all stores to switch over. Check out the full press release below.

Single use plastic retail bags to be phased out of LEGO® Stores in 2020

As part of the LEGO Group’s ambition to use 100% sustainable materials in its packaging, the company is replacing single-use plastic retail bags with ones made from sustainably sourced paper.

[Billund, November 2019] The LEGO Group announced today that it will phase out plastic retail bags in all LEGO® Stores globally in 2020. The move, which is part of the LEGO Group’s ambition to use 100% sustainable materials in its packaging by 2025, will see all plastic retail bags replaced with ones made from sustainably sourced paper across the fleet of more than 500 stores.

The new paper bags will be introduced in stores once they have used up existing stocks of plastic retail bags to ensure no unnecessary waste is generated. The paper bags are made from 100% Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) certified paper and are fully recyclable.

The LEGO Group’s sustainable packaging ambition focuses on finding sustainable packaging alternatives by 2025 that are:

– Renewable: 100%
