LEGO Shortage Looming This Holiday Season

Here’s something that’s making headlines today which was first reported over on by Brickset yesterday. If you want to give LEGO sets for Christmas as presents, you might want to purchase them now because there might be a shortage this coming holiday season. LEGO spokesman Roar Trangbaek notes:

“We will not be able to deliver all of the new orders coming from customers in the remainder of the year in some markets in Europe”

The report only mentions Europe at this time but who knows if this shortage will be affecting the States later this year. We have seen a little bit of this shortage mainly with the LEGO Jurassic World sets they have been out of stock on Shop@Home for a while and has had limited quantities in stores ever since the movie came out in June. Another example of a potential shortage may be the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens sets especially when the movie is released in December. I have a feeling these sets will be flying off the shelves starting Black Friday weekend and will probably be hard to get for a while.

Overall sales have grown by 18% in the first half of 2015 and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon. LEGO CFO John Goodwin notes:

“The high demand also puts a strain on our factories around the world.”

LEGO Star Wars 2016 Set Descriptions

Toys R Us Canada has listed set descriptions of some of the 2016 LEGO Star Wars sets. These are just a few of the sets that are scheduled to be released in the beginning of the year. I’ll update this list as soon as more have been listed online. Thanks to Steve for emailing in about it.

Buccaneer Batman Exclusive Minifigure Rumored for LEGO DC Comics Character Encyclopedia

Next year we’ll be getting a new DK LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Character Encyclopedia and as usual, there will be an exclusive minifigure with the book. A rumor from Just2Good has the exclusive minifigure to be Buccaneer Batman. Yes you read that right, Buccaneer Batman. It’s an obscure variant of Batman as I’ve only seen it from the Kenner Legends of Batman toy line. LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Character Encyclopedia will be available in April 2016 so we’ll probably seeing images of the exclusive minifigure around the beginning of the year.

LEGO Seasonal Holiday Christmas Train (40138) Review

We’re not even halfway into October but Christmas is in full swing at LEGO with the release of the first exclusive LEGO Seasonal promotional set with the Holiday Christmas Train (40138). This set is free with purchase of $99 or more at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home. It contains 233 pieces which is about double the size of exclusive Seasonal sets from previous years. The contents of the set include four un-numbered bags and the instructions booklet.

LEGO Creator Modular Brick Bank (10251) Officially Announced

At the BricKorea fan event in South Korea, LEGO has officially announced the next modular to its popular lineup, the LEGO Creator Brick Bank (10251). The set contains 2,380 pieces and retails for $169.99 and will be in January 2016. Modular fans have been waiting for another corner building since 2013 when the Palace Cinema (10232) was released but we’ll be getting one at the beginning of the year.
