LEGO August 2014 Store Calendar Promos and Events

LEGO August 2014 Store Calendar

The August 2014 LEGO Store Calendar is now available and we can now discuss some of the promotions and events that are offered in stores and on Shop@Home.

For the freebies for August, the LEGO Creator MINI Cooper MK VII Polybag (40109) will be available with purchases of $99 or more and the offer lasts for the whole month or while supplies last.

From August 25th – September 14th, you can get a free LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike Polybag (30265) with purchases of $50 or more. This offer overlaps with the MINI Cooper (40109) polybag promotion so if the Cooper polybags are still available by then, you can possibly get both polybags with a single purchase.

In other related Chima news, the Summer 2014 wave sets will be available starting in the beginning of the month. There are reports that the Ultrabuilds sets will not be available in North America so that is a disappointment.

From August 4th – September 15th, visit your store to race the new Speedorz sets on a new racetrack. Get your practicing in before the Speedorz tournament later on in the month (below).

On August 9th, new episodes of LEGO Legends of Chima will be on Cartoon Network at 7:30a/6:30c.

On August 18th, 20th, and 22nd at 5pm, the LEGO Stores will be holding a LEGO Chima Speedorz Tournament and all participants will receive an official LEGO Chima Certificate and tournament winners will get a LEGO Legends of Chima Speedor. There’s not mentioning of which Speedor you … Continue

The LEGO Movie: Everything is Awesome Edition Review

It’s been a few days since The LEGO Movie: Everything is Awesome Edition was released and I finally have some time to watch everything the package has to offer. This edition comes in a nicely packaged plastic box and it has a number of items including the Blu-Ray, the 3D Blu-Ray, the regular DVD, the Digital HD UltraViolet copy, the exclusive Vitruvius minifigure, and a collectible 3D Emmet photograph. It currently retails for $34.96 on Amazon.

Blu-Ray

The Blu-Ray runs at a full 1080p HD at a 16:9 widscreen ratio with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track. You pretty much get best of what technology has to offer today. The visuals and sounds are very crisp and it’s what you would expect.

The 3D Blu-Ray was even better than the regular version and it was very similar to what I saw in theaters. The visuals of this version were extremely pleasing to the eyes.

LEGO The Simpsons Springfield by Pepa Quin

Springfield, Brickworld 2014.

Earlier this year, we featured Matt De Lanoy (Pepa Quin) on the site before with his LEGO The Simpsons build of The Android’s Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop as his Iron Builder model. Matt’s been hard at work following that in preparation for Brickworld Chicago 2014 and there, he unveiled the town of Springfield completely in LEGO. His layout included many well-known locations from The Simpsons TV show including Krusty Burger, the Kwik-E-Mart, Moe’s Tavern, and the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. I’ve only shown a few of the builds below but head over to Matt’s Flickr album to see all of his buildings of Springfield.

LEGO Has Won the Internet with Star Wars: Episode VII Cast as Minifigures

If you’re a LEGO or Star Wars fan, then you’ve probably seen the picture that was posted this morning and has gone viral. On LEGO’s Facebook Page, they have posted a spot on interpretation of the Star Wars: Episode VII cast picture that was first released a few months ago with the caption:

You’ve met the actors, now meet the Minifigure cast of Star Wars Episode VII!

It is both thrilling and surreal to start building in a couple of weeks, and we look forward to bringing this new world to life, once again (in 1/48 scale)! #LEGOStarWars #StarWarsVII

As we all know by now, a number of the original Star Wars cast will be returning along with some newer faces to the historic franchise. In the LEGO picture, we see, going clockwise, JJ Abrams (Director), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Daisy Ridley, Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia Organa), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Bryan Burk (producer), Kathleen Kennedy (President of Lucasfilm/Producer), Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Adam Driver, and Lawrence Kasdan (Writer).

You’ll also notice some Easter eggs in the picture including Andy Serkis holding the One Ring which is a funny reference to Smeagol/Gollum from The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. Another interesting Easter egg is the computer on the middle of the table with the dates 4-29-2014 and 12-18-2015. Hardcore fans would know that the first date is the day the Episode VII cast was announced to the public and the second date is the … Continue
