LEGO Ghostbusters MOCs by Brent Waller

LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (21108)

Brent Waller over on 1980s Something has done a video showing off all his LEGO builds pertaining to everything Ghostbusters and details for each of the builds. First off is his rendition of the Temple of Gozer which is the last scene of the first movie. It shows the Ghostbusters facing off against Gozer with the Terror Dogs on each side of the building.

The next is a 48×48 mosaic of the No Ghost logo. Nothing too fancy but it is impressive nonetheless.

Next is the original 1959 Cadillac that was bought by Ray Stantz for $4,800 which eventually turned into the Ecto-1. It is a pretty much a color swap from the official Ecto-1 set and some minor changes to the chassis.

After that, Brent showed off the Ecto-1a which was the vehicle from Ghostbusters II and it was a modification of the official set with some changes on the top and the sides of the car. He has provided the LDD file for it if you want to make your own.

The next version of the Ecto-1 is the official one but he added model train flashing lights to it to give the car some more flair.

Up next is Brent’s original Ecto-1 and minifigures that he had submitted on LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas.

The final version of the Ecto-1 that Brent has build was the one that he created when he was 10 years old. It has the classic 80’s vehicle look that the older generation of builders remember.

Cool July 2014 LEGO Offers for Europe

It seems that the Europeans have some cool July offers for LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home that hopefully we’ll be seeing here in the States as well later this year, mainly the Classic Spaceman one.

July 1-7: VIPs will be getting a cool LEGO Creator Classic Spaceman Minifigure set (5002812) for purchases of €30 or more.

July 1-16: Free LEGO Legends of Chima Frax’s Phoenix Flyer (30264) for purchases of €30 or more.

July 16-31: Free LEGO Legends of Chima Worriz’ Fire Bike (30265) for purchases of €30 or more.

July 18-31: The LEGO Creator MINI Cooper MK VII (10242) will be available for VIP members and the polybag version (40109) will be given with the order as well. The polybag will be offered for orders €55 or more. The US will also have the VIP offer for the 10242 set but there’s no word yet on the availability of the polybag. That will probably be an August offer as well.

For the United States, our July offers will mostly be centered on the LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme in anticipation of the new movie being released in August.

LEGO City Police Helicopter (30226)

I have been informed that the LEGO City Police Helicopter (30226) polybag has been found at Target stores in the impulse buy section at the checkout aisles. They are $3.99 each and has 48 pieces. The helicopter is a new one here in the States and has a similar look to last year’s version (30222). It was originally available at Shop@Home overseas a few months ago. Thanks to Brian for the email.

LEGO Creator Mini Cooper MK VII Polybag (40109) Instructions Found

LEGO Creator MINI Cooper MK VII Polybag (10242)

There are some new instructions on LEGO’s database of a new polybag that will probably be released as a gift with purchase item later this year, possibly in August, the LEGO Creator Mini Cooper MK VII Polybag (40109). It looks to have a similar size to the Mini Volkswagen T1 Camper Van Polybag (40079) which is a miniature-sized version of the 10220 set.

The larger MINI Cooper MK VII (10242) will be available for LEGO VIP Members at brand stores and on Shop@Home from July 18-31 and to the general public on August 1. The set will consist of 1,077 pieces and retails for $99.99.

LEGO Inside Tour 2014 Exclusive Set Revealed

LEGO LIT 2014 Exclusive: 4000014 LEGOLAND Train chiukeung. All Right Reserved

Every year, LEGO holds a special event called the LEGO Inside Tour in Billund, Denmark for a very few select fans. Registration for the tour usually sells out minutes after it is open for potential attendees and costs 13,000 DKK or about $2400 per person, not including airfare. If you’re one of the lucky ones who get to attend the event, you are given an ultra-exclusive set to take home with you. For 2014, the LEGO Inside Tour exclusive set is The LEGOLAND Train (4000014).

The set was designed by Steen Sig Andersen and it represents the train that went around the perimeter of LEGOLAND Billund. They are numbered to 80 per tour and there are four tours per year so around 320 sets were produced total. That’s still a lot less than other LEGO exclusives such as the ones from San Diego Comic Con. For the train enthusiasts, you’ll notice that the build uses the classic train building technique.

The New Elementary has done an in-depth review on it and you can see more images of the set from CK Tsang (chiukeung). We’ll probably be seeing some of the sets hitting eBay very soon and hardcore fans will likely be paying a hefty price for it.

LEGO Mixels Staying For the Long-Term?

Jason over on The Brick Show is reporting that the highly popular LEGO Mixels sets will be staying for the long-term. He notes from Brickworld Chicago 2014 that the news comes from an “extremely reliable” source and considering that the guys over on that channel do get sets to review early from LEGO, I wouldn’t be surprised that the information is true.

The Series 2 sets have recently just hit the shelves and Series will be released later this year but the word is that there will be more series, even beyond the 4th series, and they will be around for “quite a while.” There’s no other information at this time about the future of the LEGO Mixels them but we’ll definitely be reporting it as soon as we hear something.
