There are now official images of the summer 2016 LEGO Technic sets via Bricker. There are only three sets in the wave minus the Porsche GT3 RS (42056) which I’ll have a review of on June 1.

New LEGO Americas Community Manager Announced

It was been fairly quiet on the news front but over on the LEGO Ambassador Network, it has been announced that LEGO has found a replacement for the Americas Community Manager position which was previously held by Kevin Hinkle. As you may or may not have known, the position was in the air the past few months as Kevin was moving to another position within The LEGO Group. Starting on July 1st, Paul Striefler will be taking over and you will be able to meet him in some upcoming LEGO conventions.

I am happy to inform you that we have accomplished the very difficult task of finding a suitable candidate to replace Kevin Hinkle as Community Manager for Americas. Although we are sad to say goodbye to Kevin as a team member in AFOL Relations & Programs, we are thrilled that we are able to provide Kevin with a chance to explore new opportunities within The LEGO Group, and even within the LEGO Community Engagement (LCE) Department, ensuring that Kevin will still be a close colleague. As Kevin has already told you through an earlier LAN post, he will move into a new role as Business Integration Manager, using his years’ of experience engaging with and supporting the TFOL and AFOL community to build a stronger collaboration between the LEGO markets, business units and community.

LEGO City City Square (60097) Amazon Sale

Continuing with more sales, the LEGO City City Square (60097) is on sale for $131.99, as of this post, which is 31% off the retail price of $189.99. The set is pretty neat and it has some nice building including a small LEGO Store and delivery truck as well as the tram.

The City Square (60097) was released last year so it still has some shelf life left but this is a great price for it especially if you’ve been holding off on it.

LEGO Classic Knights (5004419) June/July Promotion

You’ve probably seen a glimpse of this set on the LEGO July 2016 Store Calendar but from June 30 to July 10, VIPs can get a Free exclusive LEGO Classic Knights (5004419) set with purchases of $50 or more. LEGO is continuing the traditional classic sets which pays homage to some of the original themes from LEGO. The sets first started in 2014 with the Classic Spaceman Minifigure (5002812) and last year with Classic Pirates Minifigure (5003082).

The set has 47 pieces and the box will again be the white one that’s been used before but with updated printing with this year’s theme. With three different classic themes that have been released or will be releasing with the Knights, there aren’t that much “Classic” themes to choose from. If these types of sets continue next year, I have a feeling it might be for LEGO Town.

Bricks Issue 12 Press Release

The guys over at Bricks Magazine is celebrating their first year and they have sent over a press release of the latest issue.

Celebrate the Bricks Birthday as we turn one with the release of issue 12.

Join us in a retrospective look at our first year and relive the incredible adventure that has been 12 months in Bricks. This journey of ours leads perfectly into this month’s topic – quest. A quest can be described as an adventurous expedition with an end goal – much like a LEGO build.

The questing fun starts in Elevendale, where Miku the dragon takes us on his hunt for the lost dragon with Emily Jones and the elves. These sets have produced some lovely pieces and enchanting builds; it is a world you won’t want to miss. As the story closes on a cliffhanger Bricks ventures over to Eurobricks to examine their long-running LEGO fantasy role-playing game, Guilds of Historica; a fictional world of territories building custom creations to earn points for their chosen factions.

There’s plenty of building to take part in as we take a stab at recreating Jason Allemann’s working trebuchet, build a medieval crane using the book Build Your Own LEGO Knights Realm. James Pegrum gets into the spirit of our theme as he recreates Bilbo’s banquet, showing us ways to make trees and authentic Hobbit furniture. LEGO Creator Big Ben (10253) Officially Announced

LEGO has officially announced the next direct-to-consumer set with the next landmark-type set with the LEGO Creator Big Ben (10253). Some of you may already saw this leaked out yesterday ahead of the embargo which was very disappointing for those who decided to follow the rules.

Anyways, Big Ben consists of 4,163 pieces and will retail for $249.99 which is a heck of a deal considering how many pieces it has compared to the price. Big Ben will become the 5th largest set that LEGO has produced and the second set this year to make that list with the Ghostbusters Firehouse (75827) being released earlier this year. It is on scale with the Tower Bridge (10214) so if you have that set, you can display it next to each other.

LEGO VIPs will have early access to the set starting on June 15 and to the general public on July 1. Check out the press release and more high-quality images below.
