LEGO Technic Audi R8 by Sariel

LEGO vehicle builder extraordinaire Sariel has unveiled his latest creation and it is one of my favorite cars, the Audi R8. The car is only a few years old but was mostly recognized in the first Iron Man movie and is easily a very distinguishable car that makes heads turn.

Sariel created the car out of mostly orange parts and if you’re a builder, you know that there aren’t that many orange parts available. This limitation made Sariel’s build somewhat harder because some parts weren’t available at all. Even with that limitation, Sariel finally completed the Audi R8 and has also released a video showcasing the features of it which you can check out in the video below.

Some Information about LEGO Ideas The Big Bang Theory and WALL•E Sets

To make up for the downtime early this morning, I have some new information about the upcoming LEGO Ideas The Big Bang Theory and WALL•E sets. Many fans have been waiting for any kind information about them but there’s been absolutely nothing so far, until now. This information comes from the same contact who first told us that the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Shield Helicarrier (76042), LEGO The Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart (71016), and the LEGO Star Wars UCS TIE Fighter (75095) would be released this year.

For both of the new LEGO Ideas sets, the pricing was said to be at NZD 109.99. What this may mean is that the sets will be the most expensive LEGO Ideas sets to date and will probably be the largest in terms of piece count as well. They also told me that they will be available in New Zealand in September but we usually get the sets a little earlier so I’m thinking around the middle of summer wave sets.

Unfortunately, there is no other information that was given about the sets as well as the LEGO Ideas Doctor Who set. Of course take this information as a rumor but given the track record of our contact who has been correct many times before, I’d say they’re pretty reliable.

Update: Many people have been up in arms over my guess for the price so you can make your own guesses given the NZD that I’ve been told. I did compare pricing of similar priced sets from New Zealand … Continue

LEGOLAND California Star Wars Days 2015 Recap

LEGOLAND California Star Wars Days 2015

Star Wars Days 2015 took place at LEGOLAND California this past weekend and there were some new things at the park this year. One thing is the massive 500,000 LEGO brick Death Star model at the LEGO Star Wars Miniland area. To give you some perspective, it stands 13 feet high and 8 feet wide weighing more than 1,900 pounds. Words doesn’t really describe how big it actually is. You have to see it in person to get the full effect.

Next to the Death Star is another model which features a trench run with a couple of Y-Wings being chased by some TIE Advanced x1s.

Another thing to see at Star Wars Days is all the cool MOCs in the fan gallery area. Members of SandLUG, LUGOLA, and other local builders had many of their builds on display for the public to see.

Overall Star Wars Days 2015 at LEGOLAND California was another cool event that I was able to attend. Unfortunately I did was unable to stay as long as I wanted and missed photos of some of the MOCs. Be sure to click through the smaller images to see a larger version of it. Hopefully I can do it again when next year rolls around. Full disclosure, I was able to attend the event courtesy of a very good friend.

LEGO Store March 2015 Monthly Mini Build Event Robot (40128) Review

LEGO March 2015 Monthly Mini Build - Robot (40128)

Yesterday was the March 2015 Monthly Mini Build event at LEGO Stores and the build was a Robot (40128). It seems that LEGO has been going for a space theme connection recently with the Monthly Builds this year so far with the Alien (40126) in January, the Space Shuttle (40127) last month, the Robot from yesterday, and an UFO (40129) for April. The event itself was pretty packed, more so than the previous couple of months. It seemed like many kids were building the set inside the store as well.

The 50 piece Robot has a cool look to it with some interesting pieces to go along with it. It has a head that swivels a full 360 degrees. The arms are articulated on the newer ball joint pieces. The torso area on the front has a printed 1×4 tile with gauges and dials while the back has a windup key.

As I mentioned before, the April 2015 Monthly Mini Build will be an UFO (40129) to continue the trend of space-themed builds.

LEGO The Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart (71016) Confirmed and Image

Back in October of last year, we exclusively reported that the LEGO The Simpsons line would be releasing another set this year with the Kwik-E-Mart (71016). Many people were skeptical about the set but we were pretty confident in our source of the news.

Today, there is definite confirmation in the set because there is a leaked image of the box coming from an Instagram post. As you can see, some of the minifigures included in the set are at least Apu, Marge, Chief Wiggum, and Snake who we saw before with the head mold image. In addition to the Kwik-E-Mart building itself, the set also includes Chief Wiggum’s police car. Also note that the E on the store sign is brick built while the other words are stickers.

According to the April 2015 LEGO Store Calendar, there is an exclusive set being released for LEGO VIP members from April 15-30 and I believe that it will be indeed the LEGO The Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart (71016) and will be released to the general public on May 1st. The official images of the set will be out in a few weeks.

So what are your guys’ thoughts on the set now that you seen a little teaser image of it?

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Sith Infiltrator (75096) and Constraction Set Details

We have some new LEGO Star Wars 2015 news/rumors for you guys today. Sir von Lego over on Eurobricks has in hand a German retailer catalog and there’s a new set that we haven’t mentioned before, a Sith Infiltrator (75096). This new version of the ship could be a store exclusive and that’s why it wasn’t mentioned before. It was also stated that the minifigures that will be included in the set are Darth Maul, Watto, Young Anakin, Astromech, and Qui-Gon Jinn. There’s been a couple version released already with the latest one being 7961 in 2011 but it seems that we’ll be getting another Sith Infiltrator this year.

Sir von LEGO has also given a more accurate detail of the characters for the LEGO Star Wars Constraction Ultrabuild sets coming later this year. These characters are Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett, General Grievous, and a Stormtrooper. It was earlier mentioned that Jango Fett and Commander Cody would be two of the characters but it seems that that isn’t the case now.
