New York Toy Fair 2015 Coverage This Weekend

New York Toy Fair 2015

This Valentine’s Day weekend, the 2015 New York Toy Fair will be starting and members of the press will be able to get a close-up look at some of the upcoming toys you can expect to see later this year. On Saturday, select invited members to the LEGO booth will get an even earlier access to the booth before the show officially opens. This also means that we will finally get to see images of the Summer 2015 sets of LEGO Jurassic World, Star Wars, and Super Heroes, just to name a few, which photography was previously prohibited at the other toy fairs earlier this year. Unfortunately, The Brick Fan won’t be in attendance but we are teaming up with Chad from Brick Fest Live/Your Creative Friends to hopefully bring you some awesome images and videos throughout the event. Our coverage is scheduled to start at 7am EST/4am PST so stay tuned.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batzarro Minifigure Review

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batzarro

Today I received my pre-order copy of LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League and as reported many times before, the Blu-Ray/DVD also includes an exclusive Batzarro minifigure. To give a little backstory on this little known character, Batzarro first appeared in June 2005 in Superman/Batman #20. He first met up with Bizarro and introduced himself as “the world’s worst detective.” However in the new animated movie, he was created by Batman being shot by the LexCorp duplicator ray gun.

On to the LEGO Batzarro minifigure review, he has a similar look as Batman but with some slight differences. The most notable difference is that the outfit is mostly a lavender/sand purple color. Everything on the outfit is upside-down including the Batman symbol and the utility belt. The back of the torso also has some printing with the upside-down belt. The head is double-sided and is pale white in color. There are dark circles around the eyes and he has a snarl on one side and an angry growl on the other. The final detail is the tattered cape that he has on. Unfortunately, Batzarro does not include any accessories.

Overall, Batzarro is a great minifigure if you’re a Batman collector as it’s another variant that you can add to your collection. It most likely will not be appearing in any forseeable DC Comics Super Heroes sets as he is a pretty obscure character. This goes along with the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh minifigure from SDCC last year however this one is way … Continue

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Electro Minifigure Polybag (5002125) Listed on Toys R Us

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Electro Minifigure Polybag (5002125)

The LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Electro Minifigure Polybag (5002125) is now listed on the Toys R Us website. It’s not available for yet but it does have a price of $3.99. I haven’t heard anything from my peoples about it yet but it seems that it could be a promotional polybag in the near future. We first reported on the Electro polybag back in October but it’s finally shown up on the TRU website. I’ll let you know how to get it as soon as I hear anything.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Electro Minifigure Polybag (5002125)

LEGO Star Wars Hoth Han Solo Minifigure Polybag (5001621) Review

LEGO Star Wars Hoth Han Solo (5001621)

Today we have a review of an item that’s been released before but could be new for people who missed it two years ago and it’s the LEGO Star Wars Hoth Han Solo (5001621) minifigure polybag. As mentioned before, this particular minifigure was available two years ago during as a May the Fourth exclusive with a LEGO Star Wars purchase of $75 or more. I guess LEGO still has a lot of these minifigures left over because they brought it back as a February 2015 promotion. If you received a 2015 LEGO Wall Calendar either in November or December, there is a coupon that allows you to get the Hoth Han Solo minifigure with any LEGO Star Wars purchase this month.

This version of Hoth Han Solo has him wearing the original brown parka. There’s not much to it but it does have some details like the rank insignia, scarf and belt. The back of the torso also continues the printing from the front. There is also a removable hood that you can replace with Han’s brown hair. The head is also double-sided with one side having printing of him wearing the face mask and goggles.

If you’re an old school Star Wars fan, you’ve probably know about the brown vs. blue controversy about which color of the parka Han was wearing in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. From what I’ve gathered, the parka was originally brown but the bluish lighting of the Echo Base made the blue version ingrained in our memories. … Continue

More The LEGO Movie 2 Details Including Introduction of…

In a Q&A session at the Santa Barbara Film Festival where The LEGO Movie was screened earlier this week, Chris Miller and Phil Lord gave a small tidbid of what will happen in The LEGO Movie 2. They mentioned that the sequel will be a few years after the events of the first movie (four years to be exact) and will “focus Emmet and his sister in a ‘weird, dystopian version of Bricksburg.'” Yes, you read that right. Emmet has a sister! We reported that the sequel will be featuring more female characters so Emmet’s sister is confirmed to be one of these characters. The release of The LEGO Movie 2 won’t be happening for another three years in 2018 with the LEGO Ninjago and LEGO Batman movies premiering before it so there’s still a lot more stuff we can expect to hear about in the next few years.

Also, if you haven’t seen it yet, a few days ago Screen Junkies has released a hilarious Honest Trailer for The LEGO Movie which you can check out below.

LEGO Announces LEGO Ideas Doctor Who and WALL-E Sets

LEGO Ideas Doctor Who

A few days ago, we reported that a Doctor Who project would indeed become a LEGO Ideas set and today LEGO has confirmed that rumor. The project by Andrew Clark, Doctor Who and Companions, will become LEGO Ideas set #12. It’s rumored that all 13 incarnations of the Doctor will be included in the set so I hope that’s true. For you Whovians, your request of an official LEGO set has been achieved. This also makes the second project from a TV show that will become a LEGO set with The Big Bang Theory being the first.

LEGO has also finished their review of the Second 2014 period and the WALL-E project by Angus MacLane will become the 11th set to be produced. Angus is an animator and director who actually worked on the film and he was done a great job creating the model. WALL-E was released in theaters back in 2008 and became a box office hit which earned it the Best Animated Feature Film at the 81st Academy Awards.

The design, pricing, and availability of both newly designated LEGO Ideas sets are still being work on and will be released later this year. Congratulations to both of the project creators. The third 2014 LEGO Review is already underway and we can expect the results late spring/early summer.

On a side note, I did see this news early this morning but I was not able to be at the computer. I appreciate everyone who emailed in about it.
