LEGO Toys-to-Life Video Game Rumored Title as LEGO Dimensions

A few days ago, we reported of a rumor that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Traveller’s Tales will be releasing a toys-to-life video game later this year. Today, VideoGamer.com has learned that this new game is being developed under the name of “LEGO Dimensions.”

LEGO hopes to break into the popular toys-to-life market joining Activision’s Skylanders, Disney Infinity, and Nintendo amiibo where figures have a NFC chip inside which can be projected into the game as a playable character. There are no further details at this point as all parties are being hush hush on the project but Traveller’s Tales associate producer Tim Wileman notes:

“I don’t want to focus too much on the other games at the moment but what I will say is, like I say, we’re always looking to push the boundaries on these games in terms of the scope and the potential and we’re ambitious in that respect. So although I can’t go into any specific details now, rest assured that is the case and we’re always trying to push the boundaries. So watch this space.”

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Universe in Peril Now Available on Android

The LEGO Marvel Super Heroes: Universe in Peril video game is finally available for Android users. This version was released earlier this year for Apple iOS and now Android users get to enjoy the game as well. This version of Universe in Peril is also the same game that you can find on Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation Vita but at a very cheaper price. The only downside is that you’ll need at least 1.1gb of space on your Android mobile device if you want to play it since there’s tons of content and cinematics that’s jam-packed in the app. The game costs $4.99 and you can download it on Google Play.

General Mills LEGO Racers Throwback Thursday Review

Today, I sort of have a Throwback Thursday kind of set to review. It’s not something that I do regularly or plan to but since the LEGO news is kinda slow, I thought it would be kinda cool to take a look back on this. I was rummaging through my garage and I found these small LEGO Racers sets which were from a 2009 General Mills promotion where a random Racer was inserted into boxes of Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, Trix, or Cookie Crisp. I haven’t eaten any cereal in years so I’m not exactly sure how I acquired them since I didn’t return from the Dark Ages until late 2011 but they were in my pile of toys that were packed up.

Anyways, there are six LEGO Racers to collect and theu are pretty simple to build as there are just three parts to connect together, the top, chassis, and wheels. The Racers are 2×8 long and yes, they are compatible with any other LEGO brick. The top of the cars have two studs where you can attach minifigures to if you so desire. The wheels are made from the metal axles and they roll very smoothly.

As you can see, I have three of these Racers, the blue 4×4 truck, an orange race car, and a yellow and red one. I’m not sure if the cars are based on real-life cars but I did find out the yellow one is based on Clint Bowyer’s NASCAR vehicle with the number 33 and Cheerios … Continue

New Little, Brown LEGO Graphic Novel Publishing Deal

Papercutz has lost their licence with The LEGO Group to produce graphic novels based on various themes including LEGO Ninjago and LEGO BIONICLE. The license now goes to Little, Brown which will start releasing new graphic novels late 2015. Papercutz has until the end of the year for Ninjago and BIONICLE and mid-2016 for LEGO Legends of Chima.

Starting this holiday season, there will be books released by Little, Brown based on Ninjago, BIONICLE, and Friends but we’ll get to see previews of them at San Diego Comic Con 2015 which they will have a “major presence” at the event. I’ll be at SDCC again this year so I’ll go check out and see what they have in store.

The Culture Show LEGO Documentary – The Building Blocks of Architecture

I always like watching LEGO documentary shows and while during my downtime this week, I came across BBC 2’s The Culture Show episode on YouTube about the company called “LEGO – The Building Blocks of Architecture.” It was released last year but I just recently came across it. LEGO Jurassic World Video Game Gameplay Details

It’s been LEGO Jurassic World Video Game centric here at The Brick Fan the past two days or so. There are now some gameplay details of it courtesy of Game Informer as they already got their hands on a demo version.

One of the details of LEGO Jurassic World is that there are over 100 playable characters. You get your main cast members from the first movie such as Alan Grant who can build objects from the environment, Ian Malcolm who can toss flares, Ellie Sttler who finds clues by jumping into dinosaur dropping, and Lex who can break glass. The most interesting character to note from GI is that Mr. DNA is also playable. What are his abilities? I don’t know but I sure hope that Greg Burson’s voiceover will be used.

As from the game description we have, you can customize your dinosaur collection by collecting LEGO amber to create new ones. It was noted that there are over 1,000 combinations that you can create, not including color and skin variations.

Some may wonder if LEGO Jurassic World will be as violent as in the movies. TT Games has proven that they can put a humorous twist to what are supposed to be violent scenes. One example is from the trailer the Muldoon scene where he is being hunted. The raptor pops up with fruit on its head. Late last night, we reported that the full trailer for LEGO Jurassic World Video Game was online for viewing. This morning, we were sent images of the official box art for the game as well as some screenshots.
