LEGO Boxes – To Keep or Not To Keep

I’ve come to a point in my LEGO career that after collecting sets for the past 3 years, I’ve ran into a small dilemma. During that time, I’ve amassed quite a number of different sets and have built many of them which leaves the boxes laying around in various places. You guys may or may not know about this but I have a habit of keeping a lot of things that take up space, maybe a little too much. Some may even call this hoarding.

The problem now lies with the LEGO boxes that I have. I have two large LEGO Store bags full of them as you can see from the images. Some are quite large while some are pretty small. The question I have for you guys is and I’m pretty sure many of you have run into the same problem. Do you keep the boxes, toss them out, or do you recycle them? If you do keep the boxes, do you also flatten them or keep them intact to keep their integrity for sentimental reasons? Since there are many older sets that will never be produced again, this is probably the last and only chance you can have that particular box in your hands when they are retired from shelves.

Let me know in the comments below or on our Facebook Page of what you do with your LEGO boxes.

Top Gear Series 22 Preview Trailer in LEGO

LEGO Top Gear Series 22 Preview

Remember that one time of a rumor of some LEGO Top Gear sets could be coming out this year and it turned out to be the new LEGO Speed Champions sets? Well there is a LEGO Top Gear collaboration but not what you think it is. Top Gear has released a preview trailer for their upcoming Series/Season 22 made out of LEGO including the hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May, as well as the Stig. In the animated trailer, you can also see some of the vehicles from the new theme in the background. Check out the funny video below.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes UCS Avengers Helicarrier (76042) To Be Revealed at BrickFair Alabama 2015?

BrickFair Alabama 2015 will be happening in just a few days and if you haven’t there been, it’s a place where you can check out some cool LEGO MOCs that are displayed by numerous builders. There are also plenty of vendors where you can buy stuff as well. The LEGO Group will most likely be there as well (or at least a representative) and there’s a very slight chance that there could be a set reveal there this weekend.

My reasoning is that according to our list of upcoming 2015 exclusive sets, the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes UCS Avengers Helicarrier (76042) is slated to be released for VIP members next month and BrickFair Alabama is the perfect time to reveal the set for fans. LEGO did something similar at the same event two years ago when they revealed the LEGO Creator Palace Cinema (10232) so putting two and two together, it could happen. So stay tuned this weekend as we could finally see images of the highly anticipated UCS Avengers Helicarrier. Fingers crossed!

BrickFair Alabama 2015 will be held at the Birmingham Convention Center (East Hall) from January 17-18 and tickets can be purchased at the door.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 13 (71008) Review

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 13 (71008)

A new year and a new wave of LEGO Collectible Minifigure has been released, Series 13 (71008). The packaging for this series is more of a lime green color. Like with recent minifigures, they will retail for $3.99 each and there are 16 to collect.

Like with Series 12, Series 13 will be collaborating with the LEGO Minifigures Online video game where you can unlock the corresponding minifigure in-game but that’s not all. In one of our previous posts, we also talked about the “Collect & Win” thing LEGO has going with Series 13. Not only will you be able to unlock a character, there’s also a chance to win in game currency with free diamonds, looting Super Chests, 3 days of membership, or gaining Stars faster. If you enter your email, you can also try your luck to win some LEGO sets straight from the company. The more codes you enter, the more chances there are to win.

As with previous the past couple of series of minifigures I’ve been collecting, I’ve been using the feeling method to find the correct minifigures. You can read more about it on our feel guide post.

LEGOLAND California Star Wars Days 2015 Participation Details

LEGOLAND California Star Wars Days 2014

Star Wars Days at LEGOLAND California is almost here and FBTB has information on how you can participate in their annual Fan Gallery in the area on top of The Model Shop. If you haven’t attended Star Wars Days before, the Fan Gallery is pretty much a collection of Star Wars themed MOCs that local builders bring to show the public. You can check out the builds from last year here.

There are some incentives this year to volunteering your time and/or bringing a MOC. For just volunteering, you can get a Star Wars Days 2015 T-shirt, free entry to the park and lunch for the day of your shift. Each shift consists of a total of four hours.

For bringing a MOC, you get free entry to the park for both days of the event as well as lunch, and “exclusive” minifigure, a discount coupon for The Big Shop (20% off of up to 5 items), and a pair of complimentary passes to the park for future use.

Also for bringing a MOC, there are also prizes for best builds in a particular category (Empire Strikes Back Vignettes, Star Wars Comic Bricks, Star Wars Cube Dudes Diorama, Evolved Starfighters, and The General Category). To read more on those prizes, head over to the FBTB link above to see what you could possibly win if you bring a MOC and it is chosen as a winner. You can also contact Ace if you have any questions.

LEGO Shop Employee Minifigure Polybag (5001622) Review

Today we have a new review for a fairly older product. Way back in September of 2013, we reported on a new LEGO Shop Employee Minifigure (5001622) polybag that was given out with Shop@Home orders around that time. Now fast forward to the present time. If you made a $75 purchase last November or December, you would’ve received a free LEGO 2015 Wall Calendar which also included coupons to redeem this year for previously exclusive minifigures. For January, you can redeem the LEGO Shop Minifigure with any purchase.

The minifigure is the same one that you see prominently displayed on LEGO Shop@Home. He wears a black long-sleeved shirt with grey stripes across the arms and waist. He also has a name badge printing as well. The legs are plain black. For the head, he has a smiling expression. The reddish brown hair is spiky and is similar to the Sleepyhead from the Series 6 Collectible Minifigures (8827). What’s different about this promotional minifigure polybag from others is that it also includes a red 2×4 brick. This brick represents the big one that you usually see standing at LEGO Brand Stores.

Overall, the LEGO Shop Employee Minifigure (5001622) is a nice promotional polybag for both when it showed up unexpectedly with orders back in 2013 as well as now with the coupon. It makes a great minifigure if you’re making a LEGO Store MOC. If you missed out on it or aren’t able to get one because you don’t have the coupon from the 2015 Wall … Continue

LEGO Minifigure Box Set (5004076) Review

Today we are taking a look at a little interesting product that popped up online last year as a Target exclusive. This is the LEGO Minifigure Box Set (5004076) which consists of four different minifigures from different LEGO themes. This little set was part of a Target promotion where you could get it free with a purchase of $50 or you could have just purchased the set outright for $15.

The first thing we can take a look of on the LEGO Minifigures Box Set is the packaging itself. It comes in a fairly small box with clear windows to show each of the minifigures included the set. The printing of each side of the cube corresponds to what type of theme the minifigure is in as well their accessories. Speaking of accessories, they are in the middle of the box in a plastic bag. The inside packaging also has the same background image as the outer minus the banners and accessories shown on the outside box.

Green Ninja Lloyd

The first minifigure in the LEGO Minifigures Box Set (5004076) is the LEGO Ninjago Lloyd Green Ninja in his Dragon Xtreme (DX) robe. What’s interesting about this new version of Lloyd is that he became the Green Ninja after the other ninjas already had their DX robes a year before. Like with all the DX outfits, you have the Dragon printing on the front of the torso and leg. On the back of his torso, you have some more printing of the Dragon head as well … Continue
