LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313) Signing Event

LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313)

As with some of the recent LEGO Ideas sets that have been recently released, LEGO likes to hold signing events with the sets’ respective designer. LEGO has announced there will be an event that will be held for the upcoming Ship in a Bottle (21313) which will be held at the Fashion Place LEGO Brand Store at Murray, Utah on Saturday, January 27 at 10am-1pm MST. There, you’ll be able to meet Jacob Sadovich, who came up with the design on LEGO Ideas, as well as have your set signed by him as well. Plus, you’ll be getting the set a little early as it is scheduled to be released on February 1.

There were more than 600 entries and the winners have been chosen. Some of the submissions, including those who didn’t win, will be used later this year to celebrate the event. There’s no word whether it will be in future sets or on the website. Check out the link above for the judges’ commentary on each of the winning choices.

Comparing LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313) to Original Project

LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313)

Yesterday, LEGO announced the new LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313) and today we take a look at some of the differences between the official set and the project that was proposed. The original project by Jake Sadovich had about 1,800 pieces with the whole bottle being 15 1/2″ long, 9″ tall, and 7″ wide. The set that is coming out in February is quite smaller with the dimensions of the bottle on the stand being 3″ tall, 12″ wide, and 3″ deep.

The piece count comes in at 962 pieces which is about half of what the project consisted of. Keep in mind that there are over 280 trans-light blue studs used for the water so there are around 682 actual pieces used for the ship and the bottle.

The Leviathan itself is much smaller and does not include any rigging like the original Leviathan had. It looks okay but it doesn’t have the beauty that the submitted one had. I’m sure fans already have plans to modify or change out the ship when the set is released.

The bottle, however, looks better than the original one. The bottle neck and the cork looks great and it wax seal gives it more detailing. I feel the bottle itself look more structually sound using some larger window pieces instead of the 1x4x3 window pieces.

The stand looks similar but the official one has more of a classy and refined look to it. The compass in the middle as more to the depth of the stand … Continue

LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313) Officially Announced

LEGO has officially revealed the next LEGO Ideas set that will be available in stores and on Shop@Home and that is the Ship in a Bottle. Retailing at US $69.99 – CA $89.99 – DE 69.99€ – UK £69.99 – DK 599.00 DKK, the set has 962 pieces and will be available starting on February 1. There will be no VIP early access for it.

The original Ship in a Bottle project by JakeSadovich77 achieved 10,000 supporters back in Dec 23, 2016. The design of the set is a little smaller than the one proposed due mainly with the ship and the bottle itself. It’s hard to tell but I think the 2×2 wax seal tile and the 2×4 Leviathan nameplate tile are printed pieces. Check out more details and images of the set below.
