Could We Look Forward to LEGO Re-Releasing More Retired Sets?

LEGO Creator Taj Mahal (10256)

Earlier this morning, LEGO announced the re-release of the LEGO Creator Taj Mahal (10256) that will be coming in a few short weeks. I believe this is the fifth “re-release” set that has been announced in the past few years with the Carousel (10257), Winter Toy Shop (10249), UCS Death Star (75159) and the UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) being the first couple. This looks to be a continuing trend that LEGO is doing and it might not be a bad thing. Newer fans are now able to purchase it again, at a slightly higher retail price, but at least it won’t that scarce anymore. This might also be a move to detract resellers since LEGO sets are supposed to be built and not be a form of currency. For example, since the announcement of the new LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192), the price of a sealed copy of the original Falcon has dropped considerably on the secondary market.

LEGO fans have been asking for re-releases of retired sets for a long time and we know that LEGO has been listening. Even LEGO designer Jamie Berard stated it in the Taj Mahal teaser video. Heck, I even did an April Fool’s joke back in 2015 about it. The wheels may have been churning for a while now and it seems that now is a great time for old sets to make a comeback keeping in mind that it’s almost been been a decade … Continue

LEGO Creator Mini VW Beetle (40252)

We as fans have gotten at lot of great GWP (gift-with-purchase) sets over the years including the LEGO Creator Mini VW Beetle (40252) from earlier this year. The LEGO Community Engagement Team has asked the community to come up with ideas for future GWP items. I’ll be collecting ideas and give a list of top 5 most wanted GWP themes. It is fine if there are multiple comments for the same thing. Your ideas will influence future GWP items so send in some great ones.

The deadline to enter is October 31 but comment below so I can get a list going beforehand.

All ideas are welcome and below are some examples of ideas for a set which you might find helpful to get it started, as you can see there is room for many more good ideas.

– Futuristic Spaceship
– Pre-historic animals
– Modular building, corner restaurant
– Flower(s)
– Steam train (from 1923)
