LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (21108) Now Available

LEGO Ghostbusters (21108)

The wait is now over! The new LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (21108) is now available for purchase on Shop@Home. The set will also be available at LEGO Brand Stores in the morning too and I expect them to sell out pretty quickly. The Ecto-1 retails for $49.99 and has 508 pieces and also includes all four members of the Ghostbusters. Also remember that it is a brand new month so a new promotion is now available as well. For purchases of $75 or more, you will get a FREE Balloon Cart Polybag (40108).

Will the LEGO Ecto-1 Have the Curiosity Mars Rover Effect?

LEGO CUUSOO Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover (21104)

If you’ve been looking to get your hands on the LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover from Shop@Home, you are most likely out of luck. The set has been completely sold out for a few months now and will not be sold again. There were times when the set would be up for purchase again but they would be quickly sold out in a few hours. It looks like the secondary market will be your best chance to get it such as eBay, Amazon, or BrickLink.

This brings me to the latest LEGO Ideas product that will be hitting the shelves in a few days, the LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (21108). Seeing that Ghostbusters is a more well known entity than the Mars Curiosity Rover, it will probably sell out and go temporarily out of stock when it becomes available on June 1st. LEGO Brand Stores will also be selling them on that day, at least mine will, so you may be able to snag one there as well. Normal LEGO sets usually have about a two year shelf life but some sets are very exclusive with a limited production run such as the Rover and 4×4 Crawler Exclusive Edition (41999). To fans of both LEGO and Ghostbusters, many people will probably purchase multiple sets, one to build and one to save. Others such as investors and resellers will most likely get multiples as well for their means. Does the … Continue

LEGO Ghostbusters Minifigures Custom Arm Printing by NACM

If you are picking up the LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (21108) on June 1st or any time after, you’ll notice that the minifigures do not have the Ghostbusters logo on the arms like they do in the movies. This is where NACM – Not Another Custom Minifig comes in. They are selling custom arms for the minifigures with the Ghostbusters logo patch. Each pair of arms are pad printed on genuine LEGO parts so they’ll look like the real thing. There are four minifigures in the Ecto-1 set so you’ll need to purchase four pairs of arms if you want each character to have them.

I ordered four pairs in anticipation and it came out to €18.50 or $25.90 including shipping to California. I’m not sure if shipping is lesser if you’re on the other side of the country or if it’s a flat €6.50 shipping cost. If you’re a Ghostbusters fan, you’ll probably want the arms because the minifigures do look off without them. Brent Waller, the designer of the LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas set, approves of the arms and they look great (see below). You can purchase them here.

LEGO Ideas X-Men: X-Mansion Achieves 10,000 Supporters

For the second time in a month, a project by DarthKy, in collaboration with GlenBricker, has achieved 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. Last week, their Assault on Wayne Manor became the first project to hit 10k after the change from LEGO CUUSOO to LEGO Ideas and today their X-Men: X-Mansion became the third to do so.

Like the previous project, they have gone with a modular design that folds up to show all the different rooms of the X-Mansion such as Cerebro and The Danger Room. They have also proposed a plethora of characters, many of which have not seen the light as official minifigures such as Professor Xavier, Beast, and Gambit.

The project now reaches the second Review Stage of the year and DarthKy becomes the first creator to have two of their own projects in a single Review Stage whether it was LEGO CUUSOO or LEGO Ideas. DarthKy’s two projects joins the Invisible Hand so far with the deadline in September for more to join. The LEGO Lightsabers now become the highest supported project on LEGO Ideas.

LEGO Ideas Avengers Helicarrier

There are LEGO Ideas projects and there’s a LEGO Ideas project by Yo-Sub Joo. He has submitted a project based on the Avengers Helicarrier which consists of a whopping 22,694 elements. The design was done on LDD and it measures 272 x 144 studs (217 x 115 cm) (85.4 x 45.3 inches). Obviously the Helicarrier looks amazing with all the intricate details but we know that if it does somehow reach 10,000 supporters, it would most likely not pass the review stage. Now if there’s somebody who has the amount of pieces and the time to actually create something of this magnitude, that would be equally amazing.

LEGO Ideas Invisible Hand Achieves 10,000 Supporters

For the second day in a row, there is a project on LEGO Ideas that has hit 10,000 supporters. This time it is the Invisible Hand by LDiEgo. This project is one of the oldest projects on LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas and was submitted on December 15, 2011 which shows that some projects do stand the test of time although that premise will no longer work with the new guideline that states that projects only have one year to get the required amount of supporters.

This project is a great representation of General Grievous’ flagship from the beginning of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The proposed project has 2562 pieces and measures about 92.60cm x 20.70cm x 43cm. There are also many features including removing parts of the ship to reveal the interior. There are also a number of minifigures included but will probably get reduced if it becomes an official set. Finally, there is a UCS plaque with the details of the destroyer. Check out close-up images of the project on LDiEgo’s Brickshelf.

Congratulations to LDiEgo for this accomplishment and the Invisible Hand now joins the Assault on Wayne Manor in the second review stage. The X-Men: X-Mansion now becomes the highest supported project on LEGO Ideas.
