Official LEGO Halloween Costumes Sneak Peek

Last year, I reported there would be some official LEGO Halloween costumes coming out later this year by local costume company, Disguise. Although it’s still early in the year, it looks like there was a sneak peek at a couple of the costumes from the New York Toy Fair last month by FamilyGamer TV.

In their video, they showed off a costume of Clay Moorington from LEGO Nexo Knights and Lloyd Garmadon from LEGO Ninjago. The costumes look to be made out of the soft cloth and foam while the masks are plastic with a transparent mesh for the eyes.

There’s no other costumes shown but we now know there will be at least three themes for the costumes including Nexo Knights, Ninjago, and Mixels. The LEGO costumes from Disguise are scheduled to be available at retailers in fall 2016.

Thanks to Jenn for the heads up.

New LEGO Minifigure Wedding Favor Set (40165) Found

The LEGO news has slowed down just a tad bit but there’s an interesting set that has popped up online recently. Bouwsteentjes.info has found a new Minifigure Wedding Favor Set (40165) that has shown up on eBay. This updated version of the set now includes a brick-built alter and a couple of the newer five-stem plants. The minifigures have also been updated as well with both the bride and groom having three different sets of hairs each with the male also having a top hat. There’s no information on the price for this 89 piece set but I have a feeling that it’ll be showing up at LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home in the near future.

LEGO Brand Retail Store (40145)

LEGO is celebrating the grand opening of a LEGO Brand store at the JCPenney Court in Providence, Rhode Island and if you’re one of the first 300 customers to purchase $99 or more tomorrow, Saturday, June 27, you can get a free exclusive LEGO Brand Retail Store (40145) set. The offer is valid while supplies last and be sure to get there pretty early as I suspect there will be a lot of people lined up for it.

LEGO will also have an exclusive Minifigure set with a $50 purchase on Sunday. These sets are pretty unique since it labels the store and city on the packaging. This minifigure set is also limited to the first 300 customers.

LEGO Subscription Box – BrickSwag June 2015 Review

It’s been a slow day today but today in the mail, I received the June 2015 Brick Builders Club subscription box. If you’re a new reader and haven’t heard of this, it’s a box curated by the Brick Fest Live crew which contains t-shirts, parts packs, sometimes LEGO sets, and more. For the month of June, I believe it has to do something with summer or the beach.

Brick Loot June 2015 Subscription Box Review

Recently, I received a surprise Brick Loot June 2015 subscription box at my doorstep. I first did a review when they first launched at the end of last year. I had some mixed feelings about it since it was advertised as “a monthly box subscription company geared towards LEGO and BRICK Lovers” but I didn’t expect that it would include some clone brands.

Let’s just jump into the box and see what we get. This month’s brick Loot box is called Brickasaurus Park to celebrate the release of Jurassic World in theaters. Since this is a non-paid review, I’m going to give my full honest opinion on it from a typical LEGO fan’s perspective.

The first thing I noticed was the custom Nerdasaurus Rex build by our good friend Tommy Williamson of BrickNerd. As you can see, it’s a pretty cute and nerdy T-Rex. In my eyes, this was one of the few things that interested me as LEGO purists wouldn’t like to see what else is included in the box besides one other item.

The next thing is a Nanoblock set NBA_010 featuring a Stegosaurus and a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Currently this set retails for $26.99 on Amazon. Nanoblock is a clone brand that has a similar design of LEGO bricks in a smaller scale.

Next up are some items that I honestly do not want to mix in with my LEGO bricks. These are some buildable animals that are clearly Chinese knock-offs by a company going by Wange Toys or Wange Industrial Co. … Continue

Build on Brick Bookends by ThinkGeek

To take a little diversion from the regular news, ThinkGeek has just launched a new product that you might be interested in. If you have lots of books on your shelf, then these new Build on Brick Bookends may just be the thing you need. The set of two bookends have an exterior building surface that are compatible with many construction bricks including LEGO. They also have metal slides for under the books for more stability.

I’ve reviewed ThinkGeek products before including their Build on Brick Mug and the LEGO bricks seems to stay on pretty well. I assume the plates on the bookends will work just as good. You can now order them on their website and the set of two will go for $19.99.
