The 2016 London Toy Fair has kicked off and it looks like our friends over at Brick Fanatics has the initial scoop of some of the LEGO sets that have been shown off to invited attendees. LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Olaf’s Summertime Fun (30397) Polybag Showing Up at Target

LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Olaf's Summertime Fun (30397)

LEGO polybag hunters, it looks like the newest polybag has started to arrive at Target stores with the LEGO Disney Princess Frozen Olaf’s Summertime Fun (30397). It retails for $3.99 and it looks like has has its own DPCI number with 086-14-0140 and was found in the LEGO section. This is pretty much the cheapest way to get the Olaf minifigure without purchasing any of the larger LEGO Frozen sets. Your mileage may vary as some stores may not have the polybag available yet but be on the lookout in the near future. I do know that the LEGO UK has this same polybag as a promo with qualifying purchases. Thanks to Nick for the heads up.

More LEGO Summer 2016 Information Imminent with Upcoming Toy Fairs

Starting tomorrow, toy fair frenzy begins with the London Toy Fair and a few days later, the Nuremberg Toy Fair will be kicking off as well. During these times, we’ll be getting detailed information about the upcoming summer 2016 LEGO sets like their pricing and piece counts and whatnot. Usually at the London Toy Fair, pictures aren’t allowed but we do get in-depth info from LEGO fan sites that are able to attend. I’ll be compiling the information given into a singular post similar to what I did last year.

Later on the in the week, the Nuremberg, aka German Toy Fair, will be going on and this is the fair where we get our legit first images for the summer 2016 sets. Again, I’ll have to rely on our colleagues from across the pond to provide these images which I’ll then put what I can in another post.

Stay tuned in the next week or so to get some juicy information about the summer 2016 LEGO sets.

LEGO Monkey King by Cid Hsiao

lego_monkeyking3

I don’t feature LEGO MOCs that often here but since Lunar/Chinese New Year is coming up in a few weeks which I’m pretty excited about, I think it’ll be nice to feature some based around the holiday since 2016 is the Year of the Monkey. Here we have Cid Hsiao’s version of Sun Wukong, aka the Monkey King.

The amount of detail that went into the build is pretty spectacular especially in the head which sometimes is the hard to create. The build is based on the character in the famous novel, Journey to the West, and in recent times seen in video games such as League of Legends and Smite.

Bricks Issue 9 Press Release

Bricks Issue 9

Adam over at Bricks has sent over the press release for Issue 9 of the magazine which includes articles such as the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse (75827), builds by Orion Pax and the Arvo Brothers, as well as more information about LEGO Nexo Knights.

Bricks issue 9 – The influential 80s. Inspired by the Ghostbusters Firehouse, Bricks goes all retro, looking at an era that has influenced some of the finest franchises and sets to date. So flick back your mullets, plump your shoulder pads and enjoy celebrating a decadent decade.

Bricks Issue 9

It was a generation that tasted cable television, fed on Hollywood blockbusters and consumed merchandising like no other. Collectable culture was born, every show came with its own toy line leading to a mass production that oozed originality and new levels of creativity. LEGO upped the anti as new exciting themes hit our shelves. It was here that we were introduced to the likes of Classic Space, Pirates and Castle collections, to name but a few… it was no longer just about the city.

Bricks Issue 9

The issue starts with a thorough examination of the long-awaited Ghostbusters Firehouse set before blasting back through the decade. Michael LeCount chooses his ten best sets of the ’80s, David Alexander Smith shows us his Neo-Classic Space dinosaurs while Orion Pax recreates iconic toys with LEGO. The likes of Optimus Prime, Castle Grayskull and Inspector Gadget are all brought to life through the brick. Lucy Boughton looks at the official licenses inspired by the decade’s finest films, alongside a peek at LEGO … Continue

LEGO Ideas Old Fishing Store Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Old Fishing Store by robenanne is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. This was a very popular project when it first went live in December. I’m not exactly sure where the traffic was coming from but in a little bit over a month, it didn’t take long for the project to get the required number of supporters to get into the First 2016 Review Stage.

As for the project itself, it has the popular modular style that many builders desire and it is not short of design. It consists of 2,160 pieces and has three floors with a removable roof and the back wall able to be opened. The building has a very realistic look with the brown and sand green bricks used. There are also three minifigures included with the proposal.

The Old Fishing Store now joins the Fossil Museum, the Gingerbread House, and the Modular Train Station as the projects that qualify for the First 2016 Review Stage. Keep in mind that all four of these projects so far are non-licensed projects which is what LEGO is trying to push with their Creative Ideas Wanted campaign.
