The LEGO Store Passport Review

The LEGO Store Passport

I’m back from the Monthly Mini Build at the LEGO Store today and as we reported earlier today, the employees were handing out a new item today. If you didn’t have a chance to see yet, it is The LEGO Store Passport that one of our readers emailed us images of.

I’ve got one in my hands and I must say it’s a pretty neat little collectible. The cover is made of a material that mimics what you get with a real passport and if you don’t look closely, you may mistake it for the real thing. It is embossed in gold printing with the words “Passport” on top and “The LEGO Store” on the bottom. The middle is a pretty large outline of a gold 2×4 brick.

Inside are twelve pages of the Passport and the first page is the identification page. There’s a minifigure head which represents whoever the passport is for. You can probably glue a real portrait picture to give it a more authentic look if you want. There’s also space for your name, date of issue, and a signature.

On the next page and also a few more in the back, there’s spaces for the Passport to be stamped with different LEGO Store locations around the world to document your travels.

In the middle is a place for stamps to be applied if you have attended the Monthly Mini Model Builds this year. If you or your parents know you’ll be attending the Mini Builds, be sure to bring your LEGO … Continue

What’s This Mysterious LEGO Store Passport?

The LEGO Store Passport

It looks like something new is coming soon to LEGO Brand Stores. A reader by the name of Michael emailed me some images of a Passport that employees at the Frisco, TX store was handing out to kids. It looks like there are stamps that kids can get for attending the Monthly Mini Model Builds as well as LEGO Club Meetings. It looks like there’s also spots to get it stamped at different LEGO Store locations throughout the world. There’s no details of any incentives to having the Passport fully stamped but it’s something to try and achieve. Plus it adds more interaction between the stores and kids who participate. I’ll try to get more information about this LEGO Store Passport when I head out later today.

Amazon has also joined in the fray with $10 discount on the set coming in at $59.99 (14% off) with Amazon Prime shipping as well. This is the first time that there’s a discount for this set and it’ll probably be a while again before it’ll be discounted again. Get it while you can.

LEGO Star Wars Rebels AT-DP Polybag (30274) Review

If you made a LEGO Star Wars purchase at the LEGO Store or on Shop@Home, you would have received one of the new LEGO Star Wars Rebels polybags for 2015, the 65-piece AT-DP (30274).

If you’re not familiar with the All Terrain Defense Pod, that is because it is a fairly new Imperial walker that’s mostly been seen so far in the Star Wars Rebels animated series. It is a variant of the AT-ST and has a armored head with a single laser cannon that is mounted in the lower front area. They are deployed to check out areas that have suspected Rebel activity.

Although the AT-DP is a smaller version, it does have a similiar look as its larger counterpart with set 75083icon. Note that it does not come with a minifigure but I’ve displayed one next to the AT-DP to show a size comparison.

Overall, the AT-DP (30274) is good for what you get, if you can get it. I’m hearing reports that Shop@Home is no longer offering the polybag even if you have a Star Wars set in your shopping cart. I’m not sure if they ran out online or if LEGO is still having issues with their website. As far as I know, LEGO Brand Stores are still handing these out but you may want to make your purchases earlier in the month and not wait because they will eventually run out as well.

LEGO The Hobbit 2015 Bain Variant Minifigure Found

LEGO The Hobbit Bain

It looks like the LEGO The Hobbit theme may be finished but there’s still one more minifigure that will be available this year. Over on a listing on TaoBao, there is an image of a new minifigure variant of Bain. If my speculation is correct, the minifigure will most likely be a Target exclusive for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Blu-Ray/DVD Combo Pack that will be available in a few month. Before we’ve seen Target Blu-Ray exclusive minifigures with Bilbo Baggins in An Unexpected Journey and Legolas Greenleaf in The Desolation of Smaug.

This version of Bain is a little different from the one in the Attack on Lake-town (79016)icon set. Although it is disappointing that we get another version of Bain instead of other unreleased characters but LEGO The Hobbit completionists will probably want to pick it up.
