LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Age of Ultron Set Details

After a couple of days of fairly quiet news in LEGO world, Sir von Lego over on Eurobricks has stirred up the pot with information about the 2015 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets. He has detailed some of the minifigures and prices for next year’s lineup for the Avengers: Age of Ultron sets that will be released next summer. Sir von Lego has given credible information before so I do believe the info is trustworthy.

Avengers “Iron Man” (76029) – 14.99 EUR
Avengers Offroader, with Thor (76030) – 19.99 EUR
Avengers Hulk, Scarlet Witch (76031) – 34.99 EUR
Avengers Space Ship, Captain America (76032) – 79.99 EUR
Avengers Tower (76038) – 69.99 EUR
Avengers Fortress (76041) – 59.99 EUR

From the list above, it looks like we’re finally getting an Avengers Tower that everybody has been asking for and from the price listed, it’ll be a fairly large one with some playability features. Of course, those aren’t the final set names but at least there are some details of who will be included in the sets.

On an related/unrelated note, I’ve received word from a source that we will also be seeing another Avengers set that nobody has noted yet, the Avengers Helicarrier. It will be a UCS type set with the price point around $300 and will be available next summer. I’m going to take this information as a rumor for now but it’ll be cool for the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes to finally see a UCS set considering that we got one for LEGO … Continue

LEGO Custom Recovery/Solar Suit Superman Minifigure Review

LEGO Custom Solar Suit Superman

Recently, we received a package from Marc Bui, aka Power Brick, of a custom LEGO minifigure that he has created. The minifig is of Superman in his black Recovery Suit and if you saw our report from NYCC today on the new playable characters for LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, you’ll notice the minifigure is based on the Solar Suit Superman. If you’re not familiar with this version of Superman, it was seen in the The Death and Return of Superman story arc where he uses this suit to absorb solar energy to help himself heal and recovery strength.

The minifig has very nice pad printing and comes with both front and back torso printing. The silver “S” symbol is prominently displayed across the chest with ab printing as well. The only little thing that’s “off” is the color for the neck area which is a darker shade of flesh than the head but it’s not a huge problem since sometimes the official LEGO minfigures also has this issue. The feet also has some silver printing on it. The head and hair wasn’t included so I used the ones from the Superman minifigure in the Man of Steel sets. Overall, it’s a nice variant to add to my collection and I want to thank Marc for sending it.

He is selling the Recovery/Solar Suit Superman in his eBay store as well as on BrickLink, with or without the head and hair pieces. The hair that he provides is the swept back tousled hairpiece. Check … Continue

New LEGO In-Store Action App Now Available

LEGO has set a goal this year to leverage digitalisation and they have been doing that with the new LEGO Fusion sets as well as apps like LEGO Connect. Today they have released their latest app called LEGO In-Store Action.

This free app allows you to scan special LEGO posters at select stores which will reveal an animated LEGO Minifigure so you can take a picture with it and share with your friends and family.

Features:
– Scan special LEGO posters in stores with your smartphone or tablet camera to take an awesome photo with a LEGO Minifigure!
– When scanning a poster, the Minifigures will come to life and animate in fun poses for tons of different photo opportunities. Pause the animation at any time to compose the perfect photo!
– The app will be updated frequently, so be sure to check back often to see if new Minifigures have been added…can you snap them all? Who will you find next?
– Not at a store? No problem! The app also features two Minifigures you can take pictures with without scanning the in-store posters, right in your own home.

LEGO BIONICLE Numbered Exclusive Tahu Mask from NYCC 2014

LEGO BIONICLE 2014 NYCC VIP LEGO BIONICLE Event - Exclusive Tahu Mask

Earlier today, we reported on an exclusive LEGO BIONICLE Tahu Mask for the first 200 attendees to line up at the LEGO booth at New York Comic Con 2014. For those who had the special invite to the BIONICLE panel, they were also invited to an after hours event at the new Flatiron District store. There they were given one of the limited Exclusive Tahu Masks which are individually numbered to only 100.

On this one, you get a different card backing from the one that was given out at the booth. There’s a red strip across the center saying “2014 NYCC VIP LEGO BIONICLE Event” and on the bottom left corner, you’re told which one out of 100 you have.

Thanks to Chad from Your Creative Friends for sending over an image of the Tahu Mask.

San Diego – Fashion Valley October 2014 LEGO Community Window

LEGO Community Window - San Diego

To get in the Halloween mood, the LEGO Community Window at my LEGO Brand Store (Fashion Valley) has been updated by a couple of members from SandLUG. This month, we have Spooky Ville! which is a haunted house filled with a number of CubeDudes built by Jason which he names CubeCreatures. As you can see, the Creatures are based on monsters that you probably would see during Halloween time like Dracula, the Bride of Dracula, the Mummy, the Wolf Man, the Blob, the Frankenstein Monster, the Bride of Frankenstein, the Headless Horseman, the Swamp Thing, and many more. I’ve been informed that a couple of the characters were built by Hao as well.

The haunted house itself is created by Hao and Tommy and has some interesting details like the way they created the cemetery headstone in the shape of a cross using a TECHNIC belt wheel and modified 1×1’s with clip.

If you’re in the area and have some free time, I highly suggest swinging by the store to check out the LEGO Community Window and see it in person because the pictures really don’t do it justice.
