LEGO Star Wars 2014 Sets Pushed Back to March

LEGO Star Wars 2014

LEGO has updated their Star Wars minisite with images as well as a video of each of the new 2014 sets. FBTB is reporting that the sets will be pushed back to March because of all the promotion that is going on for The LEGO Movie’s premiere next month. This will mark the first time that the new Star Wars sets will not be released in the Winter. Check out the images of the sets in one of our previous posts.

The LEGO Movie McDonald’s Happy Meal “Toy” Revealed

The LEGO Movie Happy Meal Action Cups

McDonald’s has updated their Happy Meal minisite and has revealed February’s “toy.” They are not actually toys but Action Cups based on The LEGO Movie. There are 8 different collectible cups you can collect which features many of the main characters in the movie including Batman, Unikitty, Bad Cop, Emmet, Wyldstyle, MetalBeard, President Business, and Vitruvius. The cups are listed as McPlay so there might be a code on the cups to use on the Happy Meal site or on an app.

There were people who were afraid that the toys would be lackluster like the LEGO Batman promo a few years ago. For this year’s promotion, there’s no play feature at all on the cups but are more of a decorative item. The cups are labeled as “Action Cups” but it may just be a name to show action scenes from the movie. Maybe there’s something hidden on the other side of the cups that have something cool like a lenticular feature. That’s pure speculation but I think they’re just regular plastic cups.

Update: There are some more images of the cups on China’s eBay, TaoBao.

LEGO Space Police II Galactic Chief (6813) Review

LEGO Space Police II Galactic Chief (6813)

Recently, I found a couple of my brother’s old LEGO Space sets we played with before I went into my “Dark Ages.” I’ll be doing a short 3-part series of these small sets. Today we have the Space Police II Galactic Chief (6813). It was released in 1993 and sold for $2.99.

Minfigure

The minifigure is named Captain Magenta and he is the Galactic Chief of the Space Police. His torso is exclusive to the minifigure and has the Space Police logo printing. The arms are green as well as the legs. He also wears red epaulets to signify that he is the Chief. The head shows the Chief wearing a headset. His helmet is black with a green visor. His accessory is a white microphone.

Build

The build itself is pretty simple. At only 23 pieces, the set was one of the smallest LEGO Space Police sets that was released 20 years ago. The front has a 3×2 sloped brick and has the words Space Police printed on it. The green windshield doesn’t cover the sides of the cockpit. Speaking of the cockpit, there are no controls so I’m not sure how Capatin Magenta is piloting the ship. Towards the back are a couple of thrusters on each side of the ship.

Results

The Galactic Chief is a pretty cool nostalgic set. It also has some good swooshability. I remember flying it around as a kid and chasing other LEGO cars that I made. Although this was the only Space Police II set I have, … Continue

Minifig Theater Episode 1 – The Dark Knight

Brian Anderson aka BrianKAnimation, known for his LEGO animation videos including LEGO Breaking Bad The Video Game Parody and LEGO The Last of Us, has recently posted the first episode of Minifig Theater. Minifig Theater was teased a few months ago and is an animated web series which takes epic moments in popular culture and is reenacted using LEGO minifigures.

In Episode 1 – The Dark Knight, the video features the police interrogation scene of Batman and the Joker. There are comical scenes throughout much like what TT Games does with their video games. You may also find some unexpected scenes towards the end which I thought was pretty hilarious if you’ve watched the movies the video was based on. The video was created with Maya & After Effects. It was very nicely created and I’m looking forward to seeing more episode in the future. Enjoy!

The LEGO Movie Polybag Images Revealed

The LEGO Movie Micro Manager Battle Polybag (30281)

A few days ago, we reported there were a couple of The LEGO Movie polybags coming out later this year but there were no images at that time. Brickset’s database has been updated and we can now see what the polybags look like for both the Micro Manager Battle (30281) and the Super Secret Police Enforcer (30282). The Micro Manager Battle comes with Wyldstyle with a pair of nunchucks and a Micro Manager and the Police Enforcer comes with a Robo SWAT minifigure with a hover vehicle. It looks to be an easy way to get an army of Robo SWAT minifigures. There’s still no word on how both polybags will be distributed.

LEGO Star Wars TC-4 Polybag Clearer Image

LEGO Star Wars TC-4 Polybag

As we reported a few days ago, Toy R Us Hong Kong was giving out a random LEGO Star Wars polybag for the first 150 people who purchase more HK$1200. Today, bkctsang on Eurobricks has provided a clearer image of the new TC-4 polybag. There’s still no word yet if the polybag will be given out during the LEGO May the Fourth promotion or not. As mentioned before, the TC-4 was owned by Senator Palaptine and was supposed to show up in Episode I: The Phanton Menace but the scene was cut out.
