LEGO Marvel Super Heroes PS3

At the Eurogamer Expo developer session, Arthur Parsons and TT Games showed off some gameplay of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game. Throughout the session, he gives commentary of the playthrough and gives various details of the game as well as a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.

First, there are over 30 voice actors for the characters in the game including Gregg Clark and Nolan North. Like we mentioned before in previous articles, there will be at least 150 playable characters and since it was gaming event, Arthur decided to reveal some new characters including Carnage, Union Jack, Emma Frost, Whiplash, Ms. Marvel, and Venom BigFig. Finally, Arthur mentions there will be a demo coming out very shortly. Shortly meaning really soon because there’s only a couple of weeks left before the game comes out LEGO Marvel Super Heroes will be released on October 22 here in the States and there’s still time to preorder the game from various retail stores with exclusive bonuses. Walmart still has their deal for the Iron Patriot minifigure going while Gamestop has the Spider-Man keychain and DLC pack bonuses.

Back in July, we posted that there will be a new LEGO Maersk Ship (10241) that will be released in the near future. There was speculation on what kind of ship it will be. I predicted it would probably be the new Triple E cargo vessel and today at LEGO Fan Weekend 2013 in Skærbæk, Denmark, it was announced that the new Maersk ship will indeed be the Triple E. Initial details are there will be 1,518 pieces and will cost $149.99/€129.99. It’ll be available January 1, 2014 at LEGO brand stores and on Shop@Home. Official LEGO Marvel Variant Comic Book Covers

With only a few weeks left until the release of the highly anticipated LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game, Marvel has released images of the majority of the LEGO Marvel variant comic book covers that have already been released as well as for ones that will coming out in the near future. Marvel artist Leonel Castellani illustrated the covers which pay homage to classic Marvel covers and are used to promote the upcoming LEGO Marvel game. The regular LEGO variant covers will have a 1:25 distribution while the sketch variants will have a 1:100 distribution ratio and thus carry a higher premium. Check around your local comic book stores to see if they carry any of these variations. If your stores don’t carry them, many online comic book stores such as Midtown Comics should have them in stock as they hit store shelves. Note that the official covers for Hawkeye #15 and Indestructible Hulk #14 are still not available at this time. We’ll update this post when we get those images.

Brick Owl Hit With Cease and Desist Letter From BrickLink

Back in the early part of June, BrickLink was sold to the founder of Korean game company Nexon, Jung-Ju Kim. At the end of the same month, Brick Owl officially opened as another LEGO trading platform. Since the announcement, there hasn’t been any concrete updates for the upcoming BrickLink 2.0. Yesterday, Brick Owl announced that they have received a Cease and Desist letter from BrickLink and were demanded to immediately cease providing their services altogether. This includes using BrickLink’s unique numbering and naming systems as well as the sync feature which extracts data from BrickLink to display on Brick Owl. To me, this pretty much sounds like BrickLink is claiming the exclusive rights to all their data including the naming and numbering system and wants Brick Owl to shut down completely.

However, to counter the C&D letter, Brick Owl will be implementing some changes to their site which includes, removing BrickLink names and numbers from the site. The BrickLink Sync feature also will be disabled on September 28th.

There have been many discussions on whether BrickLink’s catalog was free to use without restrictions but it looks like a corporate giant is putting their proverbial foot down on competitors even though they encouraged competition as they stated on their TOS changes. Keep up with all the happenings over on Brick Owl here.
